Is this tea kettle BPA and lead free? Any concerns with being finished in China??

Instructions say not to keep water in the kettle, why not?

Dear LaDonna,

Thanks so much for your purchase and for allowing us to address your concern.
So about your concern, please allow me to enlighten you on why we're asking to empty the remaining water from the kettle after each use. 
To be honest, a lot of people are in the habit of leaving leftover water inside the Kettle.
Manufacturers often put it in fine-print to empty kettles after each use but because most people won’t read instructions they will never know :)
Below are things that could happen, BUT may never happen -

1.  Stainless Steel is composed of many metals such as iron, carbon, chromium, Nickel. When water comes in contact with these metals some oxidization may occur which may for some people change the taste of water.

2. Overstayed water results in limescale buildup which maybe “mistaken” for Rust. Emptying Kettle after each use will protect and increase the durability of the appliance.

For this reason, we recommend not to let water sitting inside a tea kettle overnight but it is totally up to you.

Question 3

Does anyone know to what temperature the water boils to when the whistle goes off? I’m concerned about to killing any bacteria/harmful minerals.

Allow me to put your concerns to rest. Water’s boiling point changes with pressure and could be very high or very low depending on the air pressure of your location. Highly mineralized water will also affect the boiling point. Minerals will generally stay in the water no matter how hot it gets, and bacteria dying will depend on which bacteria you want to kill. Use a water filter to remove the minerals and whatever bacteria doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

Can the whistle spout be set to open so the whistle is disabled in case others are sleeping?

A: Dear HLE,

Thanks for your question. You should be able to but a few things to take note off -

1. If the herbs end up blocking the entrance of the spout, then it will get clogged and whistle may not blow.

2. Also if you intend to leave the LID off, then whistel will NOT BLOW. This is because it is steam that blows the whistle and if all steam escapes from top, it won't reach the spout area to blow the whistle.

3. Lastly, if you use this regularly, then your pot may get stained from inside. You can use Bakind Soda and Vinegar solution to clean it however.
