Q: Does this interfere with your shield closing completely?

I use it on my HJC RPHA 11 Pro I have press the visor a little bit harder but it closes completely. I'm very happy with it since I didn't want to stick anything to my helmet.

It should. It just connects where the visor flips open

Q: The length of the straps is excessive and it does not stay in place on my helmet. How do I tighten the straps?

I just used some parachute thread to see an overlap to take up slack. Also a piece of 3M double sided tape or velcro to help anchor it to your your helmet
