I'm in Love!
This is the best little appliance I ever bought. Actually I was looking for a slow cooker that did not have a ceramic insert and was not quite so big. I have to do my cooking sitting down, and I was always afraid of handling that heavy 6 quart pot. Under slow cookers I found only one with a metal pot, but the size was also 6 quarts. In spite of the fact that it would be too big for my 1 person household, I almost went for it but then decided to research some more. Finally, I found this little gem, the Aroma ASP-137 3-quart Super Pot. I read all the reviews. Unfortunately most of the owners used theirs as grills or hot pots and not as slow cookers. Most of the few customers who had tried the slow cooking feature were not complimentary. Amazingly some said it was too hot while others said it did not get hot enough. I bought it anyway, and I am glad I did. It works fine as an indoor grill and has the advantage that one can brown the meat for a stew or for a chicken dish, for instance, then lower the temperature and let it cook slowly. There are no degree markings below 200°F, but it is not too difficult to remember the best positions for various recipes. I use the letters of the word "WARM" as guidelines. My special chicken and rice dish cooks beautifully. I grill the chicken, then add water and uncooked rice as well as vegetables. It also makes the easiest Risotto I have ever cooked. Who needs a separate rice cooker? One thing, too, the pot is a breeze to clean up. You don't even have to soak it if your dish included enough liquid. Yes, I am in love with my little cooker. I had almost given up on cooking just for me and settled for sandwiches, but now I enjoy cooking again.

This may be my most used appliance
I live in a desert, where appliance cooking makes total sense. Because I take pains to avoid adding unnecessary heat to our cottage for most of the year, I have gone through a a variety of electric skillets and Foreman grills, in search of the just-right-for-my-style-of-cooking-appliance. None have been completely satisfactory, for one reason or another, but this Aroma mult-pot is almost perfect in all the important ways. I bought it as a warehouse deal, knowing I was taking a chance. Who among us has not received a broken or defective product returned by some earlier buyer? But the price was low enough that I was willing to gamble. Sure enough, the pot arrived with a the broken plastic housing on the control plug, but it was nothing a dab of epoxy glue couldn't fix. I was too eager to put it to work to be arsed to send it back. It has been used almost daily since then. It is much more versatile than a panini press type grill and a perfect size for a two-person household. Last night I grilled some burgers and then browned chicken cubes for tonight's chicken verde. I cooked up a mess of bacon in it this morning. I'll make braised escarole and beans tomorrow night and grilled cheese sandwiches the next. It will be used for a Halloween houseparty hotpot at the end of this month. This is how I know I have found a really "good," or, at least, good-for-me appliance...something about it encourages it's frequent use. This three-in-one superpot is my new favorite in that regard. Move on over, egg cooker/single serve broccoli steamer! Some reviewers say these are "flimsy" appliances, but they are judging this pot by its cover. Yes, the surrounding frame is plastic, but it is not likely to break unless it is severely abused. It is advertised as being dishwasher proof but it is easier to wipe it down after each use. The cooking portion is a snap to remove and replace and (relatively) easy to clean. I also appreciate the indicator light on the dial, which makes it easy to fine tune low temperature cooking. The overall temperature control is very responsive, with the unit heating up and cooling down quickly and the non-stick finish is superb. But the top selling point (Grill Marks!) is also my top gripe. Those luscious bown marks come from ridges. Ridges make it difficult to spatula out leftover grease, and demand the melt and pour method of cleaning, vs. the scrape and dunk method. Being firmly in the former camp, I want this with a flat bottom pan, and a removable ridged insert for the occaisional times when really want Grill Marks! I would even pay full price for it. But until then, I will just have to make do with my nearly almost perfect Grillette. Life is tough, I tell ya.

If You Only Have Room for One Thing to Cook With...
I recently rented a small apartment, actually a garret - no joke - with no kitchen amenities whatsoever. I bought an old 7 ft. long desk with 4 drawers from a thrift store for $20 - and suddenly I had me a 7 foot kitchen counter and 4 little cabinets. Bought a nice (bigger than the usual) apartment refrigerator and an electric tea kettle from good old Amazon for about $150 and $25 respectively, plus a used 1000 watt microwave for $25. I started looking at electric grills and crock pots and saw this little beauty, and thought that a slow cooker/grill combo would be a great idea. Boy was I right! Having only a bathroom sink to wash things in, the wipe clean surface was an unexpected bonus. I ended up grilling hundreds of burgers and pork chops and steaks and shrimp in this, steamed fresh vegetables, made stews, and cooked scrambled eggs and omelets as well. The surface heats quickly and evenly, and as I mentioned wipes clean with a couple of paper towels. This single appliance did the work of a crock pot, an electric griddle, and a hot plate, while taking up no more space than any one of those. Best of all, I even figured out how to bake brownies with it! They did have a strange contour on the bottom, but they were as moist and delicious as any I've ever eaten. I'm not much of a cook, but I managed to eat well without too much effort for a year, thanks to this little beauty.

Great Shabu Shabu pot and easy to use!
I was introduced to Shabu Shabu about 12 years ago and since then it has become our family’s favorite meal. Its not only fun for my 10 year old twins but it’s super tasty and healthy to cook the vegetables and meat in a tasty broth. Up till now, and getting this pot, we were going to restaurants which averages about $25/person. Kinda pricey for a family of four to make it a weekly routine. So this year I purchased 2 of these pots as Christmas gifts for our family, one for the kids to share and one for me and my husband. I was keeping my fingers crossed that they would workout as a hot pot and...woo hoo, they exceeded all of our expectations! Here are some details. I purchased two pots and when they arrived one had a tear in the box and the plastic pot sleeve was bent. I returned it, drop off at Kohl’s, and a couple days later received a replacement in perfect condition. Since Christmas we have used the pot twice for Shabu Shabu and it’s been very easy to use. I believe one pot could be used by up to 4 people but I‘m happy that I purchased 2 for convenience. The temperature controls work great and I was able to adjust the soup from boiling to simmer quickly. Also the pot heats up very quickly so you don’t have to wait around to get started. As for cleanup, I’m thrilled with the design. After the pot cools, I disconnect the cord from the pot, remove the inner metal pot from the plastic sleeve (easily pops apart), and hand wash the pot and plastic sleeve. The pot is nonstick so residue comes off very easily. We’re so excited about the pot that we look forward to trying other types of foods and grilling... in-between Shabu Shabu.

Great for 1-2 person household esp Steaks and Hamburgers - lid handle cracked I bought replacement
I love this grill! Perfect for quick steak or quick hamburger, not really for much else. Perfect for the person who doesn't like to clean any grease after cooking up a steak or hamburger!! So it is perfect for me. PROS 1) This is a GREAT grill for 1-2 household to make a quick steak or a hamburger. It can hold 2 hamburgers and 2 thin steaks or 1 large steak. 2)You can season before or after. I season my meat after it cooks. 3)The high setting is what I use. 3 min on one side then 3 min on the other. I put sliced onions and garlic in around the edges of the grill and within 6-7 min have a great meal and no grease to clean up on the stove. This is one reason I bought it, to prevent having to clean both a fry pan AND a stove top every time I fry a streak or burger. 4)You don't have to add butter or any oil to pan it stays moist because of the lid. 5)You don't have to preheat the grill before you set the meat inside, although I sometimes turn it on high then wait 30 second then put my meat in. 6)I don't cook and I abhor cleaning especially grease so this grill is a life-saver for me! 7) should wash after every use but don't have to if it didn't make a lot of grease. Easy to wash. I soak mine in hot soapy water for 10 min then use my dish scrub brush or just a wash cloth to finish. Very easy to clean! Plus the outer white housing it sits in stays clean and doesn't get dirty or greasy, can just wipe with wash cloth CONS - LID CRACKS AFTER MONTHS OF USE - SOLUTION: 1) THE DIAL on it should be printed more easy to read which is high and which is low and should light up if it is on. It does light up when you turn it on but the light shuts off when it reaches its set temperature so you have to be careful to make sure you unplug it when you're done if not it would be very easy to accidentally leave it on which is dangerous. THIS IS THE BIGGEST CON OF THIS PRODUCT. There should be a light that stays on when the grill is on. period! 2) Not so great for hot dogs. They seem to stay too dry since they don't have natural oil like hamburgers and steaks do so I don't use it for hot dogs. 3) Not so great for fried chicken. At least mine didn't come out good, but I'm not a good cook so perhaps that's why. It took 2 hours to cook on its highest setting 7 chicken wings. Maybe it would be better for a chicken breast not sure but I only use for steak and hamburgers which it is GREAT!!! 4) The white plastic handle on the glass lid cracked after 5 months. But I found the solution on Amazon just bought this on Amazon to replace my handled that cracked: it's white too: "Universal Pot Lid Replacement White Knobs Pan Lid Holding Handles (1 Pack) by Knob&Knob" $7.89 free shipping You can also call the manufacturer 800-276-6286 but all I got was a voice mail saying they'll call you back. But their website says they only sell the whole lids $8.99 plus $4.99 shipping MUST KNOW MODEL# = ASP-137 WHITE OR JUST ASP-137 and they are currently out of stock so i just bought the one from Amazon.

YUM! CUSTOM MADE 4 SENIORS!
WHAT HE SAID A FEW YRS AGO! Just ordered a second one for the rest of my obsessive cooking! This pot is the best and why pay more for a black one??? My house is lakefront and my twin grandsons recently moved me down to the lakefront guest apartment with sunporch/patio cuz I'm 80+ and needed to be all on one floor. Thought I would like the gas stove/not! Covered it with wooden chopping boards so I could put toaster oven and slo cooker on top. Only problem was they threw out my so called non stick, non grill ridged electric frying pans. So I read the revus and ordered first one April 4th... fast delivery! Luv, luv, luv it! Seared my steaks beautifully and my cut up Yukon fingerling potatos. Next day seared frozen country pork ribs, added frozen baby limas and cut up Granny Smith's and a little water 4 gravy! Poured a lil Harvey's Bristol Cream over all....YUM! Flavor is exceptional and searing is even. Cleanup? Wipe it out or reuse the gravy for rice. Being diabetic, don't hav much appetite and hav 2 remember time to eat so I can fix ahead and let simmer... cooking is a joy and I can cook up enuf 4 my fridge 4 a couple days! Next is salmon, shrimp. Try Michael Simons avocados fried with egg in center and tomato on top with real bacon pieces! Just ordered a second Grillet yesterday so I can fix/steam other veggies ahead of time... also put the slo cooker back in the pantry cuz now I don't really need it! My biggest problem is I hav a tendency to go bac 2 recliner 2 watch TV and overcook so hav 2 set my timer by my side...(did I mention hearing is going 2). Any seniors out there or ppl with senior parents... order a couple of these ... price is right and u will love it!

Non-Stick Coating Peeled Off After 10 Months
As a mad scientist in the kitchen, I already own too many appliances and gadgets, and this grill quickly became my favorite. Unfortunately, after only 10 months, despite using ONLY wooden tools, the non-stick coating started peeling off, leaving white spots underneath where the coating eroded. I was disgusted because, (a) I LOVED using this grill, (b) it should have lasted more than 10 months, and (c) I am a cancer survivor and will never cook anything in a pot or pan that lost its coating. I had no alternative but to leave it for recycling. PROS: The pan is easy to use, cleanup is quick and easy, and it is deep enough that it holds a lot of food before it will overflow. I made: - chicken-vegetable soup; - wild caught grilled salmon coated on those sides with Trader Joe's Glaze; - beef barley soup; - pan-seared filet mignon with herb butter; - shrimp scampi; - jumbo tender and juicy meatballs in Bolognese sauce; and more For my chicken soup, I used two quarts of low sodium chicken broth and approximately two pounds (combined) of shredded chicken, carrots and celery. CONS: The cord is somewhat short (another 6 inches or more would give it more versatility as to where it can be used), and as mentioned above, the coating came off after 10 months. There are nearly six times more negative than positive reviews mentioning poor quality of this product, which I didn't notice at the time I made my purchase. Having said that, despite needing to throw this product into the recycling, I am buying another one because, (a) I am giving the benefit of the doubt that the WOOD utensils might have caused the peeling to erode, even though it doesn't seem logical to have deterioriated in such a short time span, and (b) I recently purchased high quality kitchen tools with wood handles and steel-core silicone ends (spatula, ladle, solid and slotted spoons, and spaghetti spoon). If I have the same problem with the non-stick coating peeling off, it will be my last purchase from this brand.
