Q: Does the box have everything to install both unit on 2 helmets?

Yes it does. Set has 2 of everything for install in 2 helmets.I bought this set months ago and absolutely makes riding with a passenger much more enjoyable. Chat, listen to music, make or receive a phone call, or sometimes she will warn me about a road hazard or cop up ahead.

Q: Can the microphone be removed?

yes the mic, speakers, and battery are all individually removable but im not sure why you would want to

Q: does it work with other Sena versions

Yes it works with all other sena versions. I have several variations SMH10 & SMH20 that both connect with this slim version without any issue
