Q: How is this installed on the umbrella?

I closed the umbrella first and adjusted screen on top of it. As I opened the umbrella I loosened the screen slightly. I was able to do it by myself. However, sometimes it drops from the sides during adjustment creating gaps so I used a few safety pins to keep it aligned.

Q: Will it fit 11ft. Cantilever umbrella?

No it barely fit my six foot umbrella

Q: what material are these made from?

Here is what I know about the material. After 3 summers in the sun, the section of the net that makes contact with the umbrella changes color from black to gray. The fabric becomes very weak once it has been bleached by the sun. That top section is the part of the fabric that is not hanging vertically and gets as much direct sunlight as the umbrella canvas. On the third year, the net becomes fragile and rips easily. But it is a joy to have for two years. But mosquito nets that last a long time do exist. I simply do not know if they make umbrella mosquito nets with durable nets. I assume that the good stuff is made in the USA. If you can find a better net it will be worth the extra money. Please let me know if you find a better material.

Q: Is this large enough to cover a person cooking on a small grill pad if it rains?

If it's a small grill and no table, you should be ok. With the umbrella and table I have, it barely have room to pull out chairs.
