As others have mentioned, I put this together as you would expect to and got nothing - just a half second burst of flame and then nothing, nada, not any flame.Then I found the note that somebody left about closing down the valve on the propane tank - not the little knob on the torch, but the valve on my propane tank.When I closed down the valve on the propane tank to almost off, the thing worked GREAT!Since there are no instruction with it, maybe the seller could put this note in the listing.

I thought this one was defective too - the jet blast only lasted a second or two and then went back to nothing.When fiddling around with the control knob, I left it barely cracked - I mean BARELY (like, the thing went out a couple of times, that's how low you have to have it) and squeezed the handle. WOOOOOSH - BLAST furnace heat came out.You seriously could melt thin aluminum, start a large fire of wet wood, burn your weeds off.So, it does work, but the knob must be barely cracked (flame lit of course) and then you squeeze the handle. Keep your BBQ lighter handy, it will go out a few times until you get the hang of it.WARNING - if you're not careful, the blast of the jet could melt or burn your hose and unintended objects (about a 4 foot circle of heat on full blast). This is not something you should use after a couple of beers, and keep a hose or some water handy. If you get into a patch of something dry, it'll take off.

This is my second garden torch. I use it for everything you can think of!! I use it for weed control rather than chemical sprays. All my flower beds lawn borders are maintained using a torch. I start smokers bbqs burn piles no need for starling fuel it takes about 1 minute to start a camp fire. The bang for the buck was amazing. It comes with a 15 ft hose my first one had 6 ft and I was trucking around the bottle becomes a pain in the rear. The torch itself is a torch does what it was designed to do at first glance it looks a tad cheep but after inspecting it just didn’t have plastics used much on it. I would suggest checking all connections and tighten them up. I gave it a test run last night and was pleased with the product.

Worked like a jet engine for two seconds after hooking up then quit. Can wait for a few seconds andit is like it builds up again, the works for another two seconds. Have tried two different propanetanks and the same thing happens. Have tried to find a tele number for customer service and don't see any availableI think this torch could work really good if we could find he problem.
