These sanding discs are perfect for model and craft makers each disc fits to to the bit via Hook and Loop Velcro, the bit screws into a 1/4 shank that does not penetrate the sanding surface and does not even create any bulging, the base is completely flat. With a 1/4 shank and as long as you have the chuck adaptors this sanding disc can be used in any drill, electric screwdriver or handheld rotary device. You can prolong the longevity of each disc by using a sanding cleaning block. I've been working on a model using plaster bandages which required to have a super smooth finish. If you've ever tried this or your old enough to remember plaster cast bandages then your know how rough the surface is, a rough surface similar to doing plaster repairs with a filler. starting with a 60grit as 30 is way to abrasive I worked my way across the surface, dust flying everywhere (remember your PPE) by the time I got to 800grit the surface was super soft however it had become extremely thin so I needed to mix up some plaster Paris which I then used to coat the inside by slowing turning it around until the plaster set. This worked perfectly at thickening the walls and I was able to continue. at 1000 grit the plaster started to shine similar to satin paint which was perfect for what I was looking for or what I really needed the piece to be. Its similar with Resin, I tend to only sand up to 600grit and then give the piece a final coat of resin for that super shinny glossy finish. I was however intriged at to how shinny can I get plaster and bandages so making a rough ball similar to that Japanese clay ball "Dorodango" although not made from dirt and not taking several weeks to complete. Going all the way to 3000grit I was able to get a decent shine on it so I went a little further with Yorkshire Grit followed by buffing with turtle wax. The end result was similar to marble and looked amazing. For under £10 this is a fantastic set and I feel that every crafter should have this or something similar it saves a lot of time.
