They glow like the moon and can be seen from 100 feet or more (depending on out put of flashlight or headlamp) the tack part is also longer and stronger then a thumb tack. Soft woods such as evergreens you can push in by hand. Some harder wood, such as oak or maple you might have to use a rock or small hammer. I have some still in trees from 10 years ago.

In my opinion? Absolutely, the post of the tack would hold a keeper as long as you find the right size back or keeper just be careful, obviously the tip is sharp
