Q: Would i have to add a thinner to brush it on smoother?

I bought the thinner and did NOT need it for a smooth and shiny application. It is a slow cure/dry process and self levels pretty nicely.

Q: Can I use this primer and the topside paint on the hull of a wood and canvas canoe?

No. You'll need a flexible paint. Contact TotalBoat and ask if there is an additive you could use. The Automotive world has such an additive for painting the flexible bumper covers with enamel.

Q: Can this product be used on concrete?

It probably can, although I would probably choose a product that was intended for concrete

Q: Can it be used on bare cast iron?

I really don't know but I would imagine that it would. We used it on bare treadplate and it worked very well - even better than I expected. After one year of heavy use, it still looks good.
