Now I've got the whole series on my bookshelf and I've reread it several times. Mochijun is an incredible storyteller; her talent for mystery, fantasy, and emotional damage shine especially bright in this series. I can't recommend it enough. 10/10 Oz is my favorite little rich traumatized brat and Lottie could stab me and I'd thank her the end Review: Good start - Pandora Hearts is a very good manga. Confusing at times, but good. Jun Mochizuki's drawing style is lovely and one of my favorites. All the characters are loveable, which to me is very important in a story. If I don't like the main character it makes me dislike the manga, but Oz is very inspirational. Alice is adorable, Raven is protective, Sharon is a little lady, and Break is by far one of my favorite manga characters. I recomend this manga for anyone, even though the first few volumes are confusing, it gets better. If you like this, you should probaly like 07-Ghost and D.Gray-man, which are excellent manga as well. I only just wish the volumes weren't so short.

A Good Start.
Pandora Hearts volume 1 is an interesting first entry to what feels like an engaging story. Quite possibly the strongest aspect of this manga is the heavy emphasis on Lewis Carroll's works, "Through the Looking Glass" and "Alice in Wonderland." The characters, particularly the supporting cast, are well rounded and given unique personalities within the story, with the exception of the protagonist, Oz Vessalius. I found the supporting cast far more intriguing than Oz, who seems to be nothing more than a focal point for the story to be told through. The story's pacing was adequate, though I do wish the first volume had spent bit more time in the Abyss, and does a good job of laying the ground work for future volumes. The artwork is also very nicely done, and shines particularly brightly in the Abyss sections of the book. I had heard from others that the characters were too similar in appearance in this book, and while that is a common problem in manga, I felt as though it wasn't that hard to differentiate the characters. There was only one moment when I didn't know who was talking, and that was only because the character was off-screen, and there were no arrows on the word balloons. I was able to figure out was speaking after thinking about it for a second, though. Bottom line: this manga is good, and I recommend any fan of manga or Lewis Carroll's works at least give this a shot.

Great Manga that should be given an chance!
I have read many manga series, viewed many anime series, and so forth, and I must say -- Pandora Hearts is one of my most favorite manga of all time. Yes, there is bound to be some confusion when you are reading the first book because a lot of things happen right away, and since it is just the beginning -- you can say that this web of the unexplained will all be cleared up as the story goes along. Don't put off the book right away. It's mysterious and wonderfully enticing in a strange way. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. There is some deep characterization involved in this series, and you are bound to get attached to some of the characters.

Entertaining
A fantastic opening to a very entertaining series. Pandora Hearts is very entertaining and does a great job at developing the characters and pulling you into the story. My son was directed to this by some friends and he was immediately hooked to the story. No doubt he will be reading these until he is all caught up. I have read this one also, and though not a typical anime or comic book person, I too found this to be an enjoyable read with many surprises and twists. A great read of which I am actually looking forward to reading the next installment.

Great story, great characters, lotsa heartbreak.
The moment I saw some mangas were available for Kindle, I looked to see if this was among them. I didn't bother to contain my excitement when I saw that it was. This is long, on-going manga with the usual utterly meaningless name. A more fitting name would have been "Mind Screw", as some 90 chapters in, I still have no idea what's going on or going to happen, but it's a great ride, so who cares? The characters are wonderful, they're all different individuals with many expressions and tones. There will be villains to hate (then sympathize with) and villains to sympathize with (and then loathe), heroes to be confused over (but ultimately love) and heroes with woes to laugh at (and then cry over), side-characters that will have you laughing (and then gibbering nonsense in sadness) and side-characters whom you will remember. And many characters whose death... Gibber nonsense The storyline is so long and convoluted I'm not sure if it was all actually planned or just kind of happened that way. Bottom line: One of the best stories of all time in exactly the medium it deserves. You will be missing out if you don't read it.

Love this manga! Starts off slow, but it has a beautiful character development and amazing story line. Unfortunately how underrated it is.

Pandora hearts is probably the best book I've ever read and will most likely always hold that position. The basic plot is that a boy names Oz is cast down to the abyss with the reasoning being that his life is a terrible sin and it starts out as a quest to find the reasoning behind this sin but then it becomes a massive spectacle with loads of twists and turns to keep you hooked. There are several references to Alice in wonderland but this is by no means simply that tale with a twist, it tells it's own original story ad simply draws upon the Alice in wonderland feel with a few things here and there (such as the names of the chains: raven, jabberwockey etc). On top of having a fascinating story the artwork is also spectacular with loads and loads of symbolism hidden throughout, and if you can catch into it you can see some early foreshadowing. Basically just go buy it and read it. Now.
