G.i tanto
I get frustrated reading reviews sometimes I want to know about the product not someone's personal preference here goes the sheath is really impressive holds the knife perfectly the belt loop has Velcro and a button very secure sheath nice hard plastic looks really sharp. First pulling the knife out I am impressed feels heavy and solid you can really tell its a well built knife wide full tang blade g.i tanto stamped on one side and cold steel 1055 carbon China stamped on the other the black covering on the blade is very thick and appears high quality the handle is a hard plastic lot of reviews saying its slick I won't have a problem with it feels good in my hand grip it tighter and its not going anywhere out of the box its very sharp order from amazon and you will get the newest version of the knife I think everyone should own this knife I'm going to buy a second one next week cold steel g.I tanto is a powerful knife that also lasted longer in destruction tests than multiple hundred dollar knives beefy nice wide blade I totally love it thank you amazon

Worth the $30 I Paid.
The grinds were done correctly, and the blade coating is distributed evenly. The choil works, but it's a little rough on my fingers, but it is probably better for using fire steels if that's what you're into. The plastic grips are basic and cheap looking, but they actually (surprised me) feel good in the hand. I don't care for the feel of the top handle guard, but it helps to stabilize the blade in the sheath; also assists in converting the knife into a spear. This is a 1055 stamped Chinese steel blade, so don't expect it to hold a great edge. That being said, it cuts well (even though I do not like tanto points), and is easy to sharpen. It's a carbon steel blade, so I always keep a little mineral oil on the edge; haven't had any issues with rust. The sheath is actually quite good, and holds the knife securely. If you are a Volkswagen tinkerer type of person, and like to change and/or modify all of your earthly possessions, then there are lots of CS GI Tanto modification videos on Youtube for you to enjoy.

Not Fake-Da Real Deal
I was kinda worried by a review posted earlier that said these were Fake (counterfeit), because of the screen printed logo. It is understandable that the reviewer thought this, and he knows his knives well, as earlier versions of this knife did have the Cold Steel logo and G. I. Tanto stamped into the blade. But, I checked on Cold Steel's website, and these are indeed genuine, original, down'n'dirty, Cold Steel G. I. Tantos (or, is plural of tanto: tantoes?). >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Arrived sharp, tougher than nails 1055 carbon steel, nice secure no-rattle Secure-ex sheath, and a price easy on the wallet. Wrap some black athletic tape around the handle and you're good to go. How can you not give this 5 Stars? >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Warning: On Cold Steel's Counterfeit web page they say beware of stuff from China. This is made in China, so I wouldn't turn my back on it in a dark room, or let it spend time alone with your wife or girlfriend.

Great utility knife
I collect knives, I play with knives, I use knives.... Cold Steel knives aren't ever going to be "pretty pretty collectible" knives. They're not going to hang on a decorative plaque anywhere. They will, however, cut those other knives in half. I use this as a utility tool. High carbon, solid weight, and no frills. The handle is solid enough to use as a light hammer. The blade is true, so I've used it as a short throw pry bar, a screw driver, ice pick, rock chisel, and with a strong grip it makes a good straight edge for an improvised wrench. When the edge is sharp enough, I've used it to open a stuck can of bolts by running it around the lip and scoring, then cutting the metal. A few seconds on a brick sharpener or a grinder, and it's back to paper cutting quality without losing any appreciable amount of width. Not sure if it'll kill a zombie (my daughter wants to find out), but I do know it will dress a non-George Romero animal while hunting. So all around, very useful knife.

Always loved this knife
I enjoy the high-quality five most beautiful of this life and then purchased it multiple times due to losing it in the forest but when you do have it in the forest and feel protected and also like you have a tool that can be used for many different purposes it’s better to our band of things with and if you keep the blade sharp it’s awesome and the handle is sturdy but maybe not the most comfortable but it is a really heavy substantial know and it has all time handle

Sharp, tough, reliable,
Nice knife that I’m not afraid to abuse. Holds a good edge and is very strong. Have torture tested several Cold Steel products and they all do very well. As with most high-carbon content steels this will rust quickly if not properly stored and oiled. Would recommend as a utility knife or do-all knife for someone that doesn’t need to or can’t afford the higher end Tops brand type knives.

Great Value. Can't beat it for $30
Great Value. Can't beat it for $30. Yeah, it's 1055 carbon, but hardened pretty well and holds the edge well. You can customize these as well just by searching on YouTube. The Secure Ex sheath is awesome! Perfect fit when locked in (no noise at all when shaking it) and has a drain hole as well. Think a sheath like this would be about the price of the whole package. Well made.

Ergonomic, For As Long As It Lasts
My son bought this. The tip broke off after three days of only moderately challenging use. It was ergonomic for those three days though.

At this price point you won't mind giving it a good workout in the woods and the GI can handle it. I have all kinds of knives but why always take the expensive ones out into the bush when the backup will perform at a high level anyways? Without having to worry about scratches or breakage or loss or who borrows it? Feels solid in the fist, looks good, an 8.5/10 sharpness out of the box which is excellent. Width - 1 and 1/2 inches. Thickness at the spine - 4mm. Blade length - 7 inches. Absolutely adequate and then some. Recommended for part of your kit and certainly as one of your backup blades.

This is the second knife I've bought. Quality is good. It comes in original box with kydex (hard) sheath. Perfect 👌 product, as usual, by Cold Steel

This thing is razor sharp and somehow *amazingly* strong. Seriously, I haven't been able to chip or bend even the tip of it. I've been using is as a kindling hatchet, and it has worked perfectly. I did some carving with the tip and it is still just...razor sharp. I like this knife a lot. I might replace the handles with something wooden, but otherwise this is just an amazing purchase.
