Very easy to use and you get exactly the lampshade you want. I was searching for a shade to match a lamp for ages but nearest colour match was £60 in John Lewis. Ended up with the perfect match by buying this kit and £6 worth of fabric from a local shop. All for under £30. Tip use a fairly thin cotton fabric if it’s your first attempt. I have used a thicker one in but finishing it is trickier. Still works though. Great kit!

Ordered one at first to see how easy if was then ordered second to make two matching shades. Second one achieved a better finish having learnt the pitfalls from the first, not that anyone would notice the difference. I used a patterned fabric so had to think carefully about the top and bottom position of the sticky sheet. Used a few tacking stitches with cotton to mark a straight line across the front of the fabric so when turned over I could accurately place the sticky sheet without being able to see the pattern. On one side edge I left a little bit of fabric to fold over the sticky sheet to make a neat edge and prevent fraying and secured with double sided tape. Should be enough for this in the roll provided. The rings do need to be placed as close to edge of the sticky sheet as poss but still actually on it. I thought I had too much fabric to tuck behind the rings and trimmed it in places which I wouldn't advise and didn't on the second shade. This was because the flimsy white triangular tool provided is completely inadequate for the purpose. Second time I used a really blunt butter knife carefully to tuck the fabric in and had a far better result. Don't use anything sharp. Am very pleased with the results and would buy the kit again. Probably a bit overpriced but couldn't see cheaper option. I bought 2 x 35cm kits.

Excellent kit. Easy to use with clear instructions. I used wallpaper on this one and am really pleased with how it turned out. Think it looks really professional.

I was quoted over £100 to make a lampshade so decided to have a go myself. This kit is brilliant, quality product and written instructions as well as a video tutorial. I didn’t make life easy for myself as this was a thick fabric but it still worked well. The only adjustment I made was that I did not want a raw edge at the join so made a hem on one side first - this made the fabric thick but looked better imo. As mentioned by other reviewers, the tool for tucking in isn’t that brilliant so I mostly used my Clover turning tool but a blunt knife edge could be used instead. I was worried that the tape provided would not be strong enough but it was brilliant even for my heavy weight fabric. Really enjoyed making it and I’m now considering which shade to make next!

Not wanting to pay £50 for a replacement standard lampshade - I thought I would try these. I bought two packs. All in all they are very good, relatively easy to assemble, if sometimes it would be helpful to have a third arm! However I think I small improvement could be to make the little plastic white tool you use to push the fabric until the metal circles slightly stronger. I know that it is suggested you trim the plastic to keep the point sharp, but if the fabric is substantial the plastic bends rather quickly and it does make it difficult to make sure all the fabric is neatly tucked into the circle. The first one was made with a thicker woven fabric which sheded somewhat during making, but the second was a tighter weave fabric which was easier to secure. However despite that, its a great kit and I made two standard lamp circles in about one hour. Would recommend - but company may like to rethink the plastic tool a little.

Brilliant kit. I’ve always wanted to try my hand at producing my own lampshade as had lots of good quality fabric hanging around. It was simple and easy to do with kit. Really pleased with result. Will definitely buy more.
