D-Link 8-Port Gigabit Switch (DGS-1008G)

Q: how does it connect to my router or cable modem? i don't see a main internet line conection.

Like others said here, I just connected it from my existing router into the first plug on this switch and it worked like magic. I used about 80feet of Cat-6 wire with the RJ45 end and have no loss in internet speed.

Q: Can you assign an IP address to this ethernet switch?

No. This is an unmanaged switch.

Q: How often do you lose connection and have to reset the "switch" by unplugging power & plug back in? Thank you

I am not able to with 100% certainty tell you that it's this switch (the 16-port version) that's causing me to lose connectivity in one area of the office, but I feel that it might be the culprit. Other areas not hooked to the switch are unaffected. I've had to unplug and power down/up the device a number of times.

Good but a bit expensive!

Funciona a la perfeccion, conectar y listo

Contraté internet de 200 Mb pero mi estudio está separado del modem del proveedor y por WIFI solo estaba obteniendo velocidades de máximo 85 Mb, yo lo uso para trabajar así que nada como el confiable cable. Solo fue conectar y listo velocidades de 293 Mb en promedio.

Funktioniert super

Sehr zufrieden. Ein kleines Gerät, aber liefert gute schnelle Netzverbindungen über alle Ports. War sehr einfach und schnell in Einsatz zu bringen. Der Preis war auch günstig. Nur die Lieferungseit dauerte lange Wochen, da das Gerät aus Kalifornien geschickt wurde. Deshalb auch der Amerikanische Stecker, mit dem konnte ich ohne Adapter nichts anfangen.

Un Switch de buen tamaño y eficiente a buen precio

Cumple su función muy bien, cuenta con suficientes puertos y su diseño compacto lo vuelven cómodo para el mueble donde lo tengo.
