Good ATA!
This little adapter is a lifesaver! I needed to connect my two office phones to my VoIP service, and this thing made it super easy. Setup was a breeze, and now my calls are crystal clear. It's small and unobtrusive, and it just works. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and affordable way to connect their phones to VoIP.

Easy switch from Obi..
I had Obi for several years, and used both Google Voice & Callwithus with it. I was very happy, until suddenly I couldn't use either account on the phone. I started to investigate, and realized that Obi sprung out of nowhere a required fee of $10 annual "premium technical support". Without paying this new fee, I wouldn't be able to continue using my accounts. Of course I tried to investigate online for a solution, nothing worked. I emailed their support center anyway asking for help, they wouldn't unless I paid the annual $10. It is a matter of principle for me not to pay such a dishonest company who uses bait & switch tactics. They can offer their box with the required annual technical support fee to new customers, but to do this to existing clients who bought this equipment knowing paying for the box is all they will ever need is very shady. I decided to look around for another adapter. The bad news, I wasn't able to find something that supports Google Voice. The good news, I did decide to get this adapter, and it was so easy to set up with Callwithus and it works beautifully. The manual is a bit confusing and at first I wasn't sure how to set up. But it is very easy. 1) Connect the box to power/phone/internet. 2) From the connected phone dial **** 3) From Menu option choose 110# and write down that number (for checking IP address for WAN port) 4) In the address bar of a browser page write that number and press enter. 5) The user & password are: admin 6) All I had to do in order to add my Callwithus account was input the proxy, user name & password of my callwithus account. I'm attaching a pic that will show where I put down that info. I didn't touch any of the other fields that already had values in them. That's all I had to do in order for everything to work smoothly. I don't think Cisco will get into the business of not providing needed software updates unless you pay them annual fee. I'm happy with using callwithus and from time to time use Google Voice through the computer (you put the # you wish to dial, then they call your phone and connect you to that number. Not as easy as picking up the phone and dialing, but for me it's worth it as I don't like to support greedy CEOs).

This ATA replaced a 10 year old SPA adapter that ...
Update #3: Well, finally, this ATA has been working fine for a while now, with Caller ID and no problem with incoming calls. It is very quiet and the calls sound good. It really is a good value for the money. I officially have increased my rating to 4-1/2 stars, the 1/2 point demerit because I had to dink with it (with NAT KEEPALIVE and numerical proxy ip address) to get it to receive calls properly with my Time-Warner-Cable modem/router. I must say, however, that it had NO PROBLEMS from the start with my ASTERISK PBX at work. I also have put it on a static IP address so I always know where it is in my network. This works fine as well. DHCP also worked. Update #2: Well, I took this ATA up to work and it worked just fine on our Asterisk PBX for a week or two, even on incoming calls. So I decided to take it back home and change a few things and try again. So the bottom line was this: I PUT THE NUMERICAL IP-ADDRESS (4.59.156.116) OF SIP.TELASIP.COM (my provider) as the proxy instead of "sip.telasip.com", and turned ON all the NAT option NAT KEEP-ALIVE. I do not know which one fixed it, but IT SEEMS TO BE WORKING FINE NOW, including incoming calls and caller ID. (I turned have NAT MAPPING ENABLE on too, tho' I do not know what this means) I will continue to update this status if it changes. I give it just 4 stars for now, since I had to dink with it. (To Cisco: I checked to see that I had the correct DNS address over and over.) (find your provider's numerical IP-ADDRESS by going to the command line and: ping sip.telasip.com , it will tell you the numerical "dotted address". Update: Well this SPA112 worked fine for a while, then it started dropping inbound calls (so I did not notice it). I tried disabling Caller ID because of the ealier bug that was in the firmware. That did not fix it. Then I tried updating to the 1.4.1 firmware, and that did not fix it. So after you reboot it, it receives calls fine FOR A WHILE. Then it starts ringing once, and dropping the inbound calls. Cisco tech support is non-existent for such an inexpensive product. It either works for you or it does not. I will try using it on another carrier at work. First Review was good. Now not so: This ATA replaced a 10 year old SPA adapter that got hit by lightning. It had a quick setup screen! The only thing that was a little weird was that you had to hook up a telephone to find its DHCP address. Then you could go with your browser to that address to set it up. This was no problem for me, as I had done this before (you will have to read the manual to get this done). The quick browser setup screen worked right away, and it took me just 30 minutes to get going. It is quiet! It has caller ID! It is cheap and it works! Imagine that!

Compact yet highly configurable
The unit was well packaged. Supplied with a switched-mode power supply that can operate on any mains voltage and has interchangeable prongs to fit any type of mains socket. However it is only supplied with the prongs for US sockets - prongs for other countries have to be ordered separately rather than just being included in the box. The unit is easy to configure if one only needs a basic configuration. Otherwise the more advanced menus have a vast number of options that require a good knowledge of VoIP and telecoms to understand. The settings can be configured manually or a provisioning URL can be set from which to download the profile. I got this unit in order to use my existing DECT cordless phones with VoIP. It works very well but at first I failed to place any calls since my phone waits a full 3 seconds before dialing and the default inter-digit timeout on the SPA112 is set to 3 seconds - I just had to increase it to 4 seconds. I also wanted to use it for the occasional fax (using my multifunction printer/scanner/fax) as it has full support for fax and T38, but unfortunately I discovered my VoIP provider no longer supports T38 and so a did not succeed to transmit a fax.

I had previously bought a Freetalk Connect to make telephone calls over Skype. I had some issues with it not being able to dial all numbers and the call quality was quite poor. I wanted some method of receiving calls over VoIP without paying Skype for a Skype-in number. The result is I purchased this and signed up for a Sipgate account. I used the quick setup feature to configue it and it is working perfectly and the voice quality is so much better that the Freetalk Connect that I've ditched it rather than going with my original intention of connecting the two together so I could use either. I didn't realise when I ordered it that this seller is based in germany so it took about 10 days after I received the shipment notification for it to arrive. It comes with a european power connector so an adapter is needed for the UK. It also used an RJ11 phone connector rather than the standard UK connector. Set-up was simple. I just filled in the simple quick configure form and then went to the network tab to enable NAT. There are lots of things that can be changed but I left those well alone. The default Dial Plan is for the US and Canada but seemed to work for both 10 and 11 digit UK numbers. You may need to edit it if you want to dial other number formats. There is a good if somewhat difficult to follow description of dial plans on the Cisco web site. Documentation with the device is vary basic so to do anything clever you'll need to rely on web based documents. My only gripes are that I'd have liked a line out port so that I could route some calls through PSTN (e.g. 999) or some way of getting the second line configuration to route to the phone on port one. so that I can have two different numbers but only one phone and if that is engaged to ring the phone on the other line. I know those are available at a higher price. It is only now I've got this that I think on these nice extras. I probably wouldn't use them if I had them. Overall - I'd recommend the SPA112. It does everything I need.

Ich habe die nachfolgenden Werte für Deutschland angepasst (ohne Gewähr für Korrektheit und Vollständigkeit): Qick Setup / Line 1/2 Proxy: -> <SIP Server> User ID: -> <User ID> Password: -> <Passwort> Network Setup / Internet Settings Host Name: SPA112 -> SPA112-SOLL Network Setup / Time Settings Time Zone: (GMT-08:00) Pazific Time (USA & Canada)-> (GMT+01:00) France, Germany, Italy Time Server: 0.ciscosb.pool.ntp.org -> ptbtime1.ptb.de Voice / Line 1/2 NAT Keep Alive Enable: no -> yes Voice / SIP NAT Keep Alive Intvl: 15 -> 5 Redirect Keep Alive: no -> yes Voice / Regional Dial Tone: 350@-19,440@-19;10(*/0/1+2) -> 425@-19;300(*/0/1) Second Dial Tone: 420@-19,520@-19;10(*/0/1+2) -> 425@-19,400@-19;300(*/0/1+2) Busy Tone: 480@-19,620@-19;10(.5/.5/1+2) -> 425@-19;300(.48/.48/1) Reorder Tone: 480@-19,620@-19;10(.25/.25/1+2) -> 425@-19;10(.24/.24/1) Ring Back Tone: 440@-19,480@-19;*(2/4/1+2) -> 425@-19;*(1/4/1) Ring Waveform: Trapezoid -> Sinusoid Ring Voltage: 85 -> 60 Ring1 Cadence: 60(2/4) -> 300(1/4) Ring Frequency: 20 -> 25 CWT Frequency: 440@-10 -> 425@-10

These are excellent when your company has converted to SIP and your very expensive PolyCom conference phones are now useless. This device will allow you to have 2 POTS lines connected to your SIP based telephony, allow use of standard POTS based devices. Quick to setup/configure, no issues at all 6 months later.
