It's an okay book, and the pictures are kind of dull and so-so,I just know I have purchased other gem books thatwould kick this book's butt, easily!It's written by a British man, so there are plentyof words that the British use and they would know exactly what he meantby those words, but as an American, you might be left to wonder, "What didhe mean by that?" So if you're British, go ahead and learn about artificial gemsfrom this book. If you're not British, I would advise you to not spend your money to buy this book.It will make you irritated and then bored, and then sleepy. If you want a book that will makeyou want to retire for the night, I can recommend this book.

This is an excellent reference for learning more about synthetic gemstones. The good thing is that not all gemstones can be lab-created.

If your into gemmology & you want to keep up, this book is a must, not exactly bed time reading but a sever eye opener into the tricks people get up to, information is power

Great book with lots of information about fake and fraudulent gemstones. It would have been better if the author also wrote about the gemological tools that are used for detecting these fake gems.

good book. if you want to be involved in fake gem spotting.
