Spinshot Plus Tennis Ball Machine (Best Model for an Intermediate Player)

Like most other buyers of the Spinshot, I spent hours researching every tennis ball machine I could find before making my decision. Initially, what sold me on the Spinshot was its heavy duty construction (mainly metal), compact size, portability (it has a great luggage retractable handle), ball capacity, and the wifi connectivity and mobile phone app to control the unit. I also noticed the universally positive reviews about Spinshot’s customer service. Then, when I received the unit (the Plus model), my expectations were totally met if not exceeded. What a great machine. Once I got the battery fully charged I was able to easily connect the unit to my android phone and run through a variety of settings: From speed to height, and from spin to direction, the machine operated flawlessly. As well, like other customers, I immediately found Spinshot’s customer service to be absolutely responsive and helpful. (My unit came with a charger that didn’t indicate that the battery was fully charged, and the folks at Spinshot sent a replacement charger out to me in 24 hours!)One of the main reasons I wanted a tennis ball machine was to help me teach my grandsons (6 and 9 years old) who have been bugging me to take them to the courts. Before the Spinshot, our teaching sessions have been OK, but pretty boring for me because I don’t get much of a chance to hit a decent ball. With the Spinshot, I now can stay on the same side of the court with my grandsons and correct them as they return balls programmed just for them, while allowing myself to hit faster and more challenging balls programmed just for me. Fantastic experience!The bottom line for me is this: I now have a quality machine that I truly believe will give me years of service and that helps me to train my grandsons and improve my tennis game without having to first find a hitting partner. But the real revelation is that I now have a new and fun way to get a challenging cardio workout to supplement the weight training that I do in my gym 2-3 days a week. Unless you are hitting with a club level partner, it is simply impossible to get the cardio workout the Spinshot provides because every ball it sends to you is perfect: Spinshot doesn’t make errors and you will run out of steam well before it does. I love it, and IMO this use of a tennis ball machine is largely overlooked.If you are on the fence about this purchase, do not hesitate. It wanted access to my entire network and Bluetooth devices, I declined and now it won’t appear in Bluetooth at all even after reinstalling. WiFi connects to machine, but won’t show connected.Not sure why a tennis machine wants to snoop around my network.Whole thing is frustrating at this $1k+ price point. Trying support tomorrow or this is getting boxed up and returned.

UPDATE: After using all summer - this machine performed flawlessly! Plenty of ball speed for me (3.5 player). The unit is a little heavy for loading and unloading from my car, but worth it because the unit is sturdy, works great, and has an excellent battery run time (never ran out of battery power for us). Machine control settings and iOS App software was a little confusing at first. After you get used to controls, it becomes easy to change settings on the machine and with App. Overall EXCELLENT machine that has really improved my game and provided many fun and demanding workouts. So worth it!Original Review:We are very pleased with our new Spinshot Plus machine. We bought it from the Amazon Returns Center. Upon arrival, it was missing a battery charging cable and the handle had been damaged in shipping (somewhat expected due to returned unit and discounted price). We contacted Spinshot Sports and they completely resolved the issues by sending new parts. Replacement parts were perfect and easy to install! Spinshot Sports provided great customer care through Amazon. Thank you!

I have researched about 10 different tennis ball machines in the last 4 months. I had a chance to use 4 of them at our country club prior to settling on Spinshot. This review is for the PLUS, which I actually accidentally purchased instead of the PLAYER. I wanted to review this one for the time used because I find that reviews on Amazon are very important in how my decisions are made so it is with great hope that this endorsement helps you. I am very sure you know what the machine does and what separates it from the others. I have given a more in depth review on the PLAYER model.Here, I want to talk about the company, Spinshot. It is VERY apparent they are focused on delivering not just quality products, but customer service as well. I am not being paid to say anything, and if you look at my other reviews, you will see I am limited when I take time to write them, but when customer service stands out, I have little choice to remark. I have been contacted by the company right around the time this machine got in and they have been so very kind in making sure I was taken care of. This is important to the overall experience.Spinshot is a quality company with excellent service, however, they also happen to have the BEST value in tennis ball machines for consumers. After all the research, I am SO pleased with our unit. Teaching my family to play tennis, (2 children and my wife), I could not imagine a better way to practice drills and actually coach them than to have this machine feed while I am working with them in real time. Way to go Spinshot.

I’ll keep it short. It did not come with a remote although the videos show a remote. Spinshot charged me $150 for a module that I had to install. It didn’t work. I emailed them and they blamed me. Good luck.
