Q: Is there any point in getting a specifically internet radio if you can link your smartphone to this? (Asked by a technologically challenged person!)

I bought this radio so I can get DAB stations, you can connect your smartphone to it and play your own music. The sound quality is very good. But as Harry says it's your choice. 😎😎

Q: How many watts is it? Need to know how loud it will go :) could not find in description

It's not the product to fill a large room with noise, but if you are looking for placement in a bedròom or for moderate volumes it's fine. Sound is light on base without adjusting the settings, it is also missing some oomph in the mid range but as long as you are not using it as your main system to wake the neighbours it's fine

Q: can the alarm setting be the radio coming on?

Hi, According to the manual, page 11,quote:" Note please select a radio station before setting the alarm." Then, quote" press ALARM to enter menu, ALARM again to choose 1 or 2. Press FORWARD/TUN or BACKWARD/TUN to set ALARM time then ENTER again to confirm. Then press FORWARD/TUN or BACKWARD TUN to set ON or OFF, Frequency Wake up time, Source, Duration and Volume. Once selected press ENTER to confirm." Not tried it, but that should do it. Good luck.

Q: How do you get an MP3 to work on it,connected mine via relevant usb port-nothing-mannual no help?

Usually where companies don’t state this in the manual is boggling, basically most audio systems use a file format called FAT32 which is a USB which goes up to 32GB max. The size of a file can only be 4GB to go on a FAT32 usb. Round the time when windows vista was released they made ExFAT format which supported from 64GB upwards with a single file being able to support from 4GB and up. What you will see is that your have to probably use a 32GB usb with MP3 only so probably no formats like AAC, WAV, FLAC won’t be supported. What’s annoying that systems haven’t adopted this feature for new format types and when you format a 32GB usb your true space will be about 28GB and if you have high quality MP3’s at 320kbps they will be about 9MB+ a song. Hope this helps.
