Q: The top bar notch, at its lowest position, will it securly hold an 8x10 canvas board? Will the bar lower to 10 inches?

I’m pretty sure the lowest height is 16” to be held by the top bar. I have been using a standing easel for awhile so I looked at the tabletop Meeden just to be sure and measured the distance to the top piece. 16” at the lowest. I looked at some photos of my work using this tabletop easel and none showed the top bar but it appears I taped my paper to 11 x 14 matboard and then taped the matboard lightly to a piece of 16 x 14 amazon box material and dropped the top bar over that. It worked well and I enjoyed the easel a lot but needed to stand so I got a couple of Richeson Sienna panel holders for use with tripods. Love them and very portable. This is a great tabletop easel though and recommend it. I don’t think any others will go shorter and this is good quality.

Q: Will this hold an 8 x 10 canvas?

No. The lowest setting is 16 inches.

Q: Will this hold an 18x24 canvas?

I would think so. I’ve painted 16x20 watercolor taped to a board with his easel.
