Went Right To Work
I had a couple of old hard drives lying around - one from 2008 and another from ‘15. I was almost ready to resign myself to crushing them and losing whatever pix or data was on them, but picked this up on a whim to fatten out an order. My lack of a USB 3.0 connection means that transfer speeds are a bit tedious, but super glad to be able to get to those folders with ease!

Saved me lots of money!!!
I had a desktop die on me and I really needed to get the files off of it. Took it to Staples to see what it would cost to get them to do it and after picking my jaw up off the floor, I said I need to figure this out for myself. Several videos later from YouTube University and here we are!!I couldn't believe how easy the process was, provided you have the right tools, and especially considering what Staples wanted to charge me. Long story short, I took out the drive per my YouTube tutorial and connected this cable to it and my 1TB external hard drive and away I went!! I had a little trouble at first finding my files, but once I figure it out it was a really easy process!Moving forward, I've decided to use an external hard drive to keep all of my files to prevent this problem from happening again. It also helps to free up space from not having so many files on the computer!

Outstanding!
The device was well packaged and sent promptly. It looked just like the pictures. It was very intuitive to utilize. To make this more clear, this device can be used to connect a bare SATA drive (or device?) to the USB port on a PC. In my case, I had a Seagate network drive that was full of data, and the connection built into the case failed. In other words, I had a drive that worked fine, but it was inside an armored frame that could not be removed without destroying the drive. I am able to connect this device to the power and data ports on the drive, and plug into a PC, and use the drive as before (only without network wide access). Since it is portable, I can move it from PC to PC as needed, or move data across the network using Windows Explorer. This device saved several TB of data, and I am pleased. I would buy this again, or purchase other items from this seller.

Doesn't work with windows XP
Great device to have for data transfer or using a DVD drive with a laptop. The ac adapter must be used with a mechanical hdd or DVD drive.

Like it
This works great. It allowed me to switch to a much smaller and silent PC without any spinning drives. But if I ever need to access a DVD, CD, or former hard drive, I can temporarily connect them to a front USB and get what I need. Works exactly the way I needed.

Works great
This thing just works great I have moderate computer skills and I am having no trouble with it I didn't even remove the hard drive from my old computer I just plugged the cord in inside the old case to the old hard drive I'm going to keep it and maybe use my old hard drive as an external hard drive storage device

Received Used Item
I received a used item but it appears to work. My laptop would not see the drive but my Tablo, which is what I bought it for, appears to see it just fine. I'll see how long it last in update the review.

Absolute Life Saver!
I had an external multi-media player, called a Masscool, which was total junk and it eventually broke. The Masscool was basically a glorified external hard drive, slapped together with shoddy parts and workmanship, and I used it primarily to back up files from my computer. But when it broke, and I needed those files, I was stuck trying to solder tiny parts back together, but to no avail. Thankfully, I was able to remove the SATA hard drive from the Masscool, and began trying to figure out how to get the files off the drive, which still functioned just fine. That's when I found this little gadget, and for $15, gave it a try. Well, it worked like an absolute charm - effortlessly, and flawlessly! I couldn't be happier! Highly recommend this for anyone in a situation where they need to transfer files to and from a disconnected hard drive. So happy!
