Is this sheep male or female?

Sheep are female, this item is not a Ram (male).

Does the paint chip off of these? I’ve purchased other brands and have had that problem.

I've not had any sign of paint chipping or peeling. However, they have not been in water or left outside in the elements or anything that might make them peel. I've been very pleased with the realistic features of all the animals I've ordered from Schleich and the quality of the product. I have the ewe and baby lamb, cow and calf, sow and piglet, buck, doe, and fawn.
