Save the door, save your sanity.
What a door-saver! Although I will probably have to go through a few of these (its not COMPLETELY scratch proof, I can't imagine anything is), at least it has lasted for a month now. I used to come home every day to a few more paint chips on the floor from my 60 pound Shepherd mix trying to get through to the mailman. I didn't see any solution except to take my lumps. Until now. There are a few tricks to installing this thing. Some reviewers complained that the plexi is too rolled up to install and that it keeps its curl. I left it out under a couple books for a day and it was almost flat. The second tip is about those 3M strips. I have used them a few times before and they need to "cure" a little. So stick them to the places you want on the cover, then let it sit for a few hours (I let it sit overnight). Then I took off the other side of the strip and stuck it to the door the night before (when I knew it would have time to cure before the mailman came). Wah-la. Stuck! Also, a few other reviewers said this unit is "frosted", which is untrue. Its totally clear. But there is a film you have to take off lastly (after installation) to reveal its clear facade. It is so clear, I couldn't even take a picture of it to show a friend. It is a door saver. I wish this came in a bulk pack.

Save Your Doors, Save Your Sanity
I love my cat. I do. He's great. Loving, easy-going, affectionate. What more could a girl ask for? Well maybe, just maybe - if I were being bold - I might ask for a cat that didn't find it necessary to scratch the living daylights out of the bedroom door. We recently moved to a new place, and priority one became preventing the sad fate that had met the doors at our previous residence. Knowing that the new location was unlikely to change the scratching, I began looking at door protectors. There are several options on Amazon, but I ended up going with this product for a couple of reasons. Firstly, unlike some of the other cat protectors, it seemed to be both large enough to cover the surface of a door, and durable enough to prevent nightly scratching. Secondly, it sat flush with the door, making it relatively unobtrusive compared to other options. The product is delivered as one large sheet of very thin plastic, with a small quantity of 3M adhesive squares included. It was too wide for my door, which ended up being a blessing in disguise. Once I cut it down to size to fit the main door (easily accomplished with household scissors) I still had enough left over to cover the frame and interior edge of the door. Making the scraps adhere required the purchase of more 3M mounting tape ( 3M Scotch Heavy Duty Mounting Tape, Clear (4010) ) but that was simple enough, and worth the extra cost. I was a little concerned that even with the quite sticky mounting tape the plastic wouldn't hold nightly scratching. Fortunately, this has so far not been an issue. Though my cat nightly makes an attempt to break through, the plastic has remained entirely intact, and the door unharmed. Even if the bond does loosen in the future, the 3M tape is cheap enough to make another application no problem. If you need to protect your doors from threats canine and feline, give this shield a chance. Your doors will thank you!

$17 down the drain + wall damage + hair collector
The protective plastic doesn’t come with straight edges so if you do need to cut it to size your workin with at least 3 uneven edges. It’s undoubtedly going to come out crooked. I got this to protect my wall against food and water splatter. I wish I didn’t. This looks worse than the food and water splatter! It was so curled it was so difficult to place on the wall. Didn’t come with enough adhesive stickers and even when placed on lightly if you try to move the plastic, it rips the first layer of wall up with it. Granted it says use a hair dryer for easier removal....but when you barely place it on the wall in my opinion it shouldn’t rip up all the paint. As a renter, this is a nightmare. It’s at least a two person job and I tried to do it myself since I live alone. I wish I didn’t waste my money. Now my walls are hideous and the plastic collects and traps hair like nobody’s business. Should’ve listened to the other poor reviews.

Used to protect walls from getting dirty, works wonderfully.
I bought several of these door shields for a somewhat different use. My dog doesn't scratch at doors, but she does spend most of the day on her dog bed, and the cream colored walls around it tend to get a little dirty. Rather than go through a pallet of magic eraser sponges, I decided to look for something I could use to cover the lower area of those walls and the nearby doors without doing any permanent damage -- since I'm a renter. These clear somewhat rigid sheets looked like a possible solution, so I rdered two. Taking heed of other reviews that showed the adhesives that come with these shields may take off the paint, I decided to just use thumb tacks instead. Worked perfectly. The one drawback is that these come rolled up instead of flat, and even after laying one out flat on the table with heavy books to keep it flat for several days, it rolled right back up the second I removed the books. Clearly it's not going to flatten out any time soon. That made it a bit difficult to install without someone else to hold it in place, so I just had to do my best and hope I got it straight. Despite that issue, though, it makes for a perfect protective wall cover that will keep splatter from my dog's food and any other messes she makes completely off the walls. Now I just need three more to cover the rest of the area, and I'll be good to go.

Easy to use
So far, so good. Have had this installed on front door for a week. Bought it to keep the dog from tearing up the front door. She jumps up on the door to look out the window when people walk by. It is not viisble from the outside and seems to be working. Great solution for door protection. Comes with clear adhesive strips. Once installed, it is not very noticeable. I lined it up with the muntins and was able to trim around door knob and lock. As you can see from the pics, the dogs has jumped up on it and it stayed in place. I am optimistic it will protect the door from further damage.

... a lot of those damage free strips that companies like 3M sells
Do yourself a favor and buy a lot of those damage free strips that companies like 3M sells. It does NOT come with enough. There is a plastic coating on the door guard and the instructions never said if I should remove that or not. It's kinda cheap to be on their long term, but I'm not risking it. Basically, it's a giant sheet of plastic that comes with little to no instructions, and the English translation does not make it any easier to apply. It does the job I need it to despite the fact that the bottom will NOT stay attached and keeps rolling up about 3 inches from what I expected. Rating it what I am is GENEROUS, but I would still buy it again despite it's flaws. Assuming I got some more strips to go with it, LOL!

Useful Item at a reasonable price
I purchased this for two reasons, one as a scratch shield for my cats and two as a front cover for a dollhouse on display. This is great, it's clear despite what some reviewers are saying, you just have to peel off the protective plastic film on one side which is what makes it appear cloudy, it's crystal clear once that's removed. This worked well as a deterrent for my doorway scratching two cats, it also works to keep dust out of the dollhouse on display (though scratches easily for this purpose). Being able to trim it to fit with scissors for the odd shape was what I was looking for. It is flexible/thin and is shipped in a roll in a box for those wondering. It deters scratching at nearly half the price of the heavier one available from another company.

(reason for 2 stars versus one) Otherwise it is a waste of money
My pet scratch protector arrived and is a rolled piece of green plastic. I was expecting a clear or whitish piece at the very least. There was also one adhesive strip. I believe the seller had an extra amount of plastic and found a way to repurpose this extra material. I put in request a return because the product that arrived did not match the item described on website. They said there was no need to return the product and gave me my money back. (reason for 2 stars versus one) Otherwise it is a waste of money. Look elsewhere for a solution to your dog scratching.
