Not air tight. The lid is always easily open for ants also. I put sugar and ants had a feast. If you are looking for air tight boxes then I suggest you dont buy this product. I wasted my money.

Everything is good with these jars, the only part I didn't like about this product is the lid which is extremely uncomfortable to open and close.
