We installed this, tweaked all settings on the computer and turned all volumes up and mic levels, to 100%. but you have to speak very closely into the mic to barely hear it. This in NO way can be used as a conference mic as described.

Excellent alternative to an inadequate microphone in a webcam. works well on a hard surface with a bit o space around it. Doesn't have to be in front or particularly near to you.
