This is a truly beautiful book. My favorite of Patricia Polacco's! Every page is gloriously illustrated and immediately captivates you with her charming story. I have loved Patricia Polacco since being introduced to her beautiful books 25 years ago as a child, and I'm thrilled to know that her books are still available! Each of her books are truly works of art and should be included in every family's literary collection. I have bought several more of her books after buying this one initially, and I treasure each one, as do the kids I read them to! I also thoroughly enjoy Patricia's Facebook posts!

Patricia Polacco's books are always wonderful...and this one was no different. I have a large collections of Polacco's books, because her stories touch the heart and soul of her readers. These are wonderful books for all ages!

Precious and inviting, gorgeously illustrated. This volume belongs on the shelf of any reader of Polacco's work, and in any Christmas collection.

As a former librarian, this book was always one I recommended at Christmas time. Now that I am retired, I wanted it for my private library. (My grandchildren are my excuse, but I love the story myself.) Polacco's stories are always special and warm and typically tell of a personal family experience. This story covers themes of family loss and the traditions that give meaning to such loss. Through words and pictures(Polacco is the illustrator as well as the author)the story is a happy celebration of love and warmth. I highly recommend this story for all ages.
