12 Pack Cincinnati Chili Mix packets

Gotta love it. I use ground turkey and an extra 1/2 packet and I must say it turns out pretty darn good.

I moved to Atlanta from Cincinnati and had missed Skyline so much. I also went vegan, so just buying it in stores wasn't an option. I bought these and oh man, have started putting this on like everything. I hadn't even thought of what it would be like to put cincinnati chili seasoning on vegan spicy chicken sandwiches, but i'm so happy i tried it. even just putting the seasoning on the vegan chicken patty alone without making actual chili worked perfectly and captured the skyline style flavor. I'm a little worried because it looks like mainly third party sellers though. Did this place go out of business or something? Hopefully not because these will definitely become a staple for me....

I grew up and went to college in the Cleveland area -- consequently I became addicted to Skyline Chili. When I moved to DC the thing I missed the most was that fantastic chili. Over the years I tried substitutes (Hard Time Cafe "Cincinnati Style" Chili, cans of branded "Skyline Chili") and nothing compared to the taste of the real deal. Well, last year I discovered these packets, and I have to say, this is the EXACT taste of Skyline Chili. I've made it for many of my friends from Ohio who have visited me and everyone agrees that this is "spot on" to the taste of an authentic Skyline Chili experience. I've made many batches and have been purchasing these pouches like crazy. Last week I had a chili night for all my employees and served this chili (which was enjoyed by all). I don't see the need to doctor it up with anything else (it tastes great to me the way the instructions say to cook it). The only thing I do is make sure the ground beef is extra-finely ground. I've tried different methods and the one that works the best is to chop the ground beef up with a sharp butcher knife as much as possible. Other than finely ground beef, this couldn't be any easier to prepare. Combine it with some spaghetti, finely grated mild cheddar, diced white onions, and oyster crackers, and you'll have an authentic Skyline Chili evening at home when you can't get it from the restaurant. I've even made Skyline hot dogs which are fantastic. If you're craving Cincinnati Style Chili, this will more than deliver.

I was born in Cincy but have not loved there in what seems like an eternity. Growing up my father would go often on business trips and he always brought some back so my mom could make this for us and it was always one of my most favorite things she would make. When I went to college she and came home random weekends she would make it and pack it in Tupperware (!!) so I could bring it back with me - the spaghetti and other items were easy to pick up off campus. I got older and moved into my own place, then got married, and now own a house not too far from where she lives. My father passed away over 10 years ago, but every time I make it myself it still brings back the memories of the excitement we had knowing he would be returning from a business trip to OH with a bunch of these packets in his bag. I've never had anything quite like it before or since - the flavor is one of a kind. It is a little costly, but worth it for those memories.

My mother is from Cincinnati and we're all in Washington. There is nothing in Washington that sells anything like the food from her youth. She is also a terrible cook. Awful. I've cooked this chili from recipes for her for years but sometimes after a full 8 hours something quick is the more desirable option for me and her as she is elderly. I like this as it is full bodied in flavor and is a good quick option, all you need is some meat, tomato paste and water to get it going. If you want it spicier add more spices. It's just a good base option for those in a hurry or for those who don't know how to cook.

Being a native of Cincinnati i grew up on this stuff. The flavor is right, it's easy to make, and cost less than driving home for chili.

Making this at home is great and tastes like you are at a Cincinnati chili parlor. It takes over an hour to cook, so understand that your house will smell like chili.
