I've never used these, but I'm very interested. Can someone please explain how to use these, specifically?

These have been used for Thousands of Years long before the Hazardous Detergents We make now.  You don't want the Dried One's.  You want the Fresher One's Off the Tree.  Still moist soap nuts.  Use 5 for Reg. Load to 7 for Really Large Load without the Seeds inside per a small bag or old white sock tied off so they stay in the Bag.  Add the Cotton Bag with Soap Nuts to Your Laundry before the Water Fills.  Wash Normally for the Softest Cleanest Freshest Clothes you have ever had.  No Softener is ever needed and Your Clothes retain their natural color better than any Detergent could ever do and they last longer.  Don't use no more than 5 to 7 per load.  This is the Natural Natures way to clean and soften refresh and make last your clothes.  Have Fun!  You just made the Wisest Choice You could make to clean Your Clothes. Are they really better in quality too? I wanna try! The price obviously is really good...

The quality is great. They last a very long time and my clothes are fresh and clean with out artificial anything. The only thing that ever gets pretreated is grease stains. I also boil them to make a cleaning solution. I use this on counters and walls and anywhere I need it. I also use this solution to dampen my cloth diaper wipes. It works great and is gentle on baby's skin. I love these soap nuts!

1. What do you do with the bag of soap nuts between loads? Do you hang dry them in the bag? How does one know when to compost or discard them?

Ours sometimes just stay in the washer for the next load, sometimes end up in the dryer with the clean load of laundry, and sometimes we lay them on top of the dryer in between loads. They don’t have to dry out between loads, but they can.

When the soap nuts are broken down into small crumbs, I dump the bags and add new soap nuts.

Soap nuts are not fussy at all - put two…three bags in the wash or just one…dry them or don’t. Dump out the used up soap nuts or just keep adding a few new ones to the bags…

Question 4

Will these work in a cold water wash or does the water need to be warm?

I know I'm late to the game but just in case someone in the future has this same question... I only wash in cold water and I've used these for about 3 years. I drop the bag with the berries into a cup of hot water for about 3 minutes and then toss the water and bag of berries into the machine, load in the clothes I sorted while the berries soaked, and start the wash. If I'm washing consecutive loads I don't soak the berries each time, only if the berries have dried in between loads. Everyone in my family has converted after seeing how well these berries work and how much money I save!
