This thing is a workhorse!
This is not the first singer heavy duty I have owned. I have one that broke because of my own stupidity. And of course I broke it while I was in the middle of a project. So that one's in the shop and being the impatient person I am, I decided to buy a second one to finish my project. It's sews like a dream! The speed is spectacular, it's easy to thread, and it has enough stitches to keep me happy. I find I don't need a lot of stitches because I'm not into machine embroidery or anything like that. I basically sew garments, bags, etc and straight, zigzag, a couple of stretch stitches, and a few decorative stitches are all I need. This is a great machine if somebody wants to start out because it's inexpensive and it works very well.

great sewing machine
After my old machine gave out last year, I’m glad I upgraded to this model. The speed is much faster, which seems to help me achieve straighter lines. The light around the needle is a great touch, and the automatic needle threader is perfect for those of us who struggle with farsightedness. I do wish a printed manual had been included to save me the trouble of searching online. However, based on the digital manual and the parts included in the box, the machine offers great help with advanced tasks like zippers and buttons. It seems possible for even a beginner like me to become a professional tailor—haha! I do hope that a bag for the machine is provided. Well, with this machine, I guess I can make one for myself.

Excellent machine!
I’ve had my machine for a while now and I’ve made quite a few projects with it. I am absolutely thrilled with how well it works. There are more than enough stitch functions for most sewists. This machine is mechanical instead of digital which means I can clean and maintain it on my own and not have to worry with electronics and circuits breaking down. Don’t be intimidated by the word “mechanical” if you’re new to sewing. Everything is as easy as turning a dial. Like most machines it works best if you remove the throat plate and clean and oil it after every project. It’s insanely simple and takes me about 5 minutes to do. You can find tutorials online, and other than the oil (which is cheap and lasts forever) this machine comes with all of the tools you need although I recommend buying a tiny screwdriver set if you sew a lot. I’ve even set the timing on this thing after a mishap with an aftermarket ruffled foot and was amazed at how simple it was to do. I also like that if you learn to listen to this machine it’s going to tell you waaay ahead of time if there’s a problem so you can take care of it before it jams. The only problem I’ve had with this machine is that if I use the upright spool pin the thread sometimes jumps and wraps around the pin and jams. I finally quit using that pin and either use a freestanding one I bought cheap or the horizontal pin that comes with the machine. I’ve been able to sew corsets with multiple layers of fabric and cording with no issues at all. It took me a few tries to get the buttonhole feature right (really make sure you have the lever all the way down, again, watch a few videos online) but buttonholes are now easy as pie. If you’re a more advanced sewer who loves all of the bells and whistles like push button thread cutters and super fancy features, this probably won’t be your fave unless you’re looking for a workhorse for more sturdy fabrics. But I assume that anyone that advanced is probably looking at machines that are 5 times more expensive and will require a pro to service once a year.

Very heavy duty and love the threader
IT IS HEAVY DUTY. Not only is it heavy (because it is metal) but it sews heavy fabrics when used in conjunction with the right needle. I had another one Singer Heavy Duty 4423 for over 7 years and it still works without me having to take it to be professionally cleaned. I clean it myself! I gave that one to my daughter-in-law because she wants to learn to sew. I then bought myself another one of the same kind but this one has a few more stitches. I just love the threader. No eye strain anymore trying to thread that darn needle:-)

Good but could be just a tad better.....pricing is good for what I got.
They say it has 50 percent more power.....than what....???? I wish they provided a kit that I could use to soup up this unit to get a bit more power, another 25% or more and I would pay anohter hundred. I like all the features otherwise and hope this unit will last like the kenmores and singers of the past. I also hope the unit is all metal gears, because the plastic one always broke within a couple of years. I ususually like the singer stitching and mostly the adjustments in the old machines. So far the thread looping is okay, works some of the time and top loading is more convenient. They should sell this machine with an optional carrying case and have aftermarket accessories to make the unit stronger and more convenient. I soup up my cars, so what not a sewing machine?

Good machine and quick to deliver, however, when I purchased the machine it did NOT state it was coming from USA, consequently arrived with USA Plug and NOT Australian - cost me $50 AUS for a power reducer from 240V to 110V.

I bought the Singer 4452 Heavy Duty Sewing Machine for my mom, who is an experienced tailor, and it has exceeded all expectations. She absolutely enjoys using it and has been thrilled with its performance. The machine offers a wide range of configurations with 32 built-in stitches, allowing for great versatility in her projects. The heavy-duty build supports almost all types of fabric, from lightweight materials to heavy-duty textiles, making it perfect for both intricate and robust sewing tasks. The included accessory kit is comprehensive and adds significant value, providing all the tools needed for various sewing needs. My mom has been impressed with how smoothly the machine operates and how easy it is to switch between stitches and adjust settings. Overall, the Singer 4452 has proven to be a reliable and efficient sewing machine that meets the high standards of a seasoned tailor. It’s a fantastic investment for anyone looking to elevate their sewing experience. Highly recommended!
