Excellent reception on all bands
Just a superb well designed radio, it just works and dose the job it was designed for really well indeed, the reception on all of the bands is exceptionally good-its up there with the very best receivers at a fraction of the price that one of those would cost , for me being a shortwave radio enthusiast this little radio is brilliant-it cover's all of the mainstream frequencies superbly, im able to listen to stations from all over the world even without an antenna extension-to be truthful i wasn't expecting it to be so good, sw1 i use at night for the American stations , sw2 for the European stations throughout the daytime it's just brilliant-and you can get them in a colour of your choice-there well made good quality and very sensitive, tune slowly and you will be rewarded, well worth the money, all in superb.

Sits amongst the best of this price range
Small and functional. Not sure of the weather function being in the uk however the radio tunes well, seem to run ok on solar/rechargeable. All in all, happy with the radio. Nice torch as well.

Perfect radio for emergencies
Perfect and often recommended radio for emergencies. Built in rechargeable power pack with facility for powering with non-rechargables. Can also be powered from its solar panel or by the hand-crank, though I cannot say how good either of these are in the real world. The aerial extends to about 35 cm, but cannot be oriented other than directly up. There are several bands and a manual tuning dial on the side. Reception on all bands, FM, AM, SW1 and SW2 is good, though shortwave reception is of course better at certain times depending upon atmospheric conditions. There is no facility of extending the aerial further to increase range which might prove useful for SW in particular. There is a so-called weather band, but outside the US this is redundant. NOAA Weather Radio stations broadcast on one of seven frequencies in the VHF Public Service band: 162.400 megahertz (MHz), 162.425 MHz, 162.450 MHz, 162.475 MHz, 162.500 MHz, 162.525 MHz, and 162.550 MHz. Essentially the NOAA Weather Radio is a nationwide network of radio stations broadcasting continuous weather information directly from the National Weather Service (NWS) offices across the United States. The broadcasts include warnings, watches, forecasts, current weather observations, and other hazard information, 24 hours a day works with the Federal Communications Commission's Emergency Alert System . However unless in the US or parts of Canada the weather band won’t provide anything! Despite this, it is a functional radio set with a built in torch and multiple methods of powering up the device. Perfect for your emergency kit, grab bag, camping trip or just simply to listen in the garden! Fairly well built and comes with a short carrying strap.

Brilliant product
Brilliant product. Instructions confused me at first as they said to remove the rechargeable battery so I called Amazon’s excellent support as I could not remove it BUT it was not necessary as I just had to plug the tiny connector in and straight away the radio came to life. We are thrilled with the radio and quickly tuned into radio stations. I am buying one for my family members now . A small card was attached which I missed which explains about the rechargeable battery in very clear language in my haste to unpack it!

For emergencies
Great value …. If the grid ever goes down this hopefully will be the one thing that helps you keep up to date with what’s going on in your area … without having to rely on electricity

When you can’t rely on constant power - this is the radio to get
Got this for my uncle who lives in a city in Pakistan. Unfortuntely the have daily power cuts and he loves listening to the radio. What’s also needed is a torch. Well this is a two in one! To be able to power it up by winding it up is just what was needed. The feedback from my uncle has been really postive, he loves the radio - good reception and that in times when the power goes out he can continue to listen to it. Great device.

Good all round radio.
Purchased for general use, and emergency’s good sound & reception easier to use than the digital version, the NOA is for use in the USA going there shortly, so will be used, & with the blackouts in Europe recently, this is the second one purchased.👍😎📻would highly recommend.

I live in New Orleans and the weather reports indicated that Hurricane Harvey could be sending a lot of rain and tornados our way in addition to knocking out power. I thought it prudent to have an emergency alert device that isn't dependent on the grid or on cell service, so I decided to get one. Initially, I bought an Eton at a local store but it was faulty out of the box. After reading reviews, I noticed that was a trend for their products. After returning it, I did better research going forward and purchased the Kaito KA500BU instead. I've only had the Kaito KA500 for a short while, but it's been fantastic so far. The versatility of having 5 ways to charge this radio is reassuring, especially for a device intended for emergencies. My favorite part is that the USB power is reversible. Being a techie, I have multiple laptops that have now become de facto batteries in the absence of power if necessary. I haven't tinkered with the Short-Wave stations yet, but the AM/FM stations come in crystal clear. One nice surprise is that this little radio is quite loud, especially in NOAA Weather Alert mode. We're still under intermittent Flood/Tornado watches until Thursday, so I left this radio on in the bedroom last night. It received an alert and startled my sleeping wife by blasting it, so I had to move it into the next room. The hand crank seems to work well, providing a few minutes of power each time. We've had so many alerts right after receiving it on the initial charge that it was likely run down early from that. It's charging by USB now and I expect the battery to hold a charge longer once it's been fully charged and cycled. The LED reading lights, flashlight, and strobe light are a nice touch. The reading lights were a big selling point for my wife. I need to buy AA batteries and actually get some sunlight before I can test the auxiliary battery and solar power functions properly, but based on my experiences with this product I expect them to work well. Overall I'm very please with this purchase and would recommend it to others without reservation.

This is by far one of the best emergency or hobby/camping type of Short Wave and Weather band Radios that I have ever used. It has a built in light for the display and is easy to use. I plan on buying more of them. I have had other radios that are limited in functions. This one has the most band coverage on shortwave + weather and regular AM/FM radio. It has built in flash light for easily reading the display in the dark and as a flash light or reading lamp. I'm not yet sure how effective the solar panel is but it's nice to have there. I'll be cranking this in most cases and using rechargeable and regular batteries that will work just fine for my needs. I especially like how the cell phone can be charged with this unit very important for long term power outrages. What I would improve on is the tuning it could use a "fine-tune" feature that would be nice, maybe a dual display frequency counter with the analog and a tone control also would be nice but that's about all I can think of that would make it best of the best. If you don't own one already I'd recommend it for sure.
