the sound of soul
How could I give anything but the stars to this magnificent woman ? Evora's singing is a true gift to mankind, luckily appreciated by many around the globe. From the first violin sounds of the opener, this CD is all soul - which means all Cesaria. There are moments for dancing as well as moments for contemplating - all done with the perfect Cesaria taste. I love the musicians who support Cesaria on this CD - they are completely in tune with her and add to the overall success of the music. This is highly recommended as one of Cesaria's best CD's - to any person on this earth.

I was very lucky to come across her music
This is an amazing album. I'm so luck to have come across her music on Pandora via Fado music. Her voice is like what I'd imagine the goddess of earth and ocean, it's vast, magnetic, and completely relaxed and worry-free. The music is rich and relaxing at the same time, with a mix of tropical island beat and romantic nostalgia that transcends the listener to a bygone era.

Cesaria Evora is a Cape Verdean National Treasure!
Although Ms. Evora recently passed away, her earthy, grainy, soul-wrenching ballads are treasures to be discovered by those still unfamiliar with the lady and her work. Cesaria Evora is Cape Verde's 'Barefoot Diva' of music - performing her craft in bare feet, in Portuguese, and usually with a cigar or cigarette in one hand! Ms. Evora's 'Cafe Atlantico' came highly recommended to me by Ina Garten, Food Network's 'Barefoot Contessa', proving once again that Ina's choice in music is every bit as excellent as her talent for cooking and entertaining!

True voice
Such a wonderful voice--i could listen to her all day. I don't speak or read Portuguese, yet I find her music so soothing.
