Even though I change every 5K, why not use the top fo the line for the same money?

It was what I needed, when I needed it

Fully synthetic media (spun glass fibers I think, vs. cellulose) filter, well made. The filter media is wire mesh backed ( all synthetic media has to be, because the media is not rigid) Suitable for extended OCI-s. The filtration specs are published, which is a differentiator by itself. I follow a simple rule: If there are no published specs, I refuse to use it. Vague marketing assertions like "it is the best thing since sliced bread" do not do anything for me. I say: show me the money (i.e the specs)To put it another way: This is one of the finest filters money can buy, a totally different product from the much maligned budget (orange) Fram-s. Much less restrictive of oil flow, filters much better (like 99% at 20 microns) and has a much more dirt holding capacity compared to traditional filters. These (and sometimes Mobile 1) are all I use on our 3 ICE cars.I actually only change filters every other oil change, because the filter is rated 3x the mileage compared to my OCI. Filtration ability does not get any worse as the filter ages, except pas the point where the rated dirt holding capacity is exceeded. At that point the filter is clogged and starts bypassing frequently. My point is, as long as the filter is not clogged, it filters as well, or better than when new.

I'm approaching 320,000 miles, I've been using these filters for the last 200,000 miles along with Mobile-1 running about 8,000 miles between oil changes (based on GM oil-life monitor / change guide)The metal on these cans is obviously thicker than the cheaper filters out there, so I doubt it will blow out on a cold winter day, and while I do my own oil changes and don't put them on stupid tight to where I need an oil filter wrench to get it off, the thickness of the metal on the can is good enough that even if you did have to put an oil filter wrench on it, it's not going to collapse and crush easily.I don't know whether to give my 300,000 + miles credit to Mobile-1 or these Fram filters, but they certainly haven't been the cause of a failure for me.

Dont over tighten! Had to really tug with my oil filter pliers and started to crush the black linker around tue edgez, I got it loose before it got worse though luckily, not very strong, meant to be hand tightened. Used this on my 2015 Chevy Volt twice now no problems.

Very good filter for under $10. Have purchased many times & would have no qualms about buying again.

Bought this oil filter on recommendation from forums for my Gen1 Chevy Volt. And since the oil gets changed once per year, and the engine oil might only have 300 (or less in some cases!) miles on it, this oil filter is supposed to have the internal synthetic media to be able to handle sitting in oil the whole year and not potentially falling apart, like a cheapy oil filter with paper or cardboard internals.Very well build and solid, you can "feel" the difference when you hold this oil filter.

What can you say? It’s fram. It’s synthetic. Can’t go wrong, works fine. Although I wouldn’t go 20 000 miles without changing it.

2nd filter I've bought here, first one was perfect, but the 2nd came used and had a dent when it was taken off. Not sure I'll buy again...
