I Love this Phone
I have had this phone for about 6 months now. I love so many things about it. I'm an android user, so no iphone. I have had lots of samsungs, a google pixel XL, 2 LGs. Honestly, none of them were really that impressive. I did like my Note3 back in the day, but Samsung has disappointed me several times since that phone. But if you don't want one of the above, what's even left? A Sony of all things, with some really compelling features that I simply love. The dedicated camera button is phenomenal. I can't even explain the satisfaction. I can just pull out my phone and hold the camera button and start shooting. I don't miss my kids in action while fumbling with unlock screens and loading the camera app and all that. Just pull it out and shoot. It's just glorious in its simplicity. It's everything I hoped it would be. There is a Pro Camera app that I have never used. I just use the default app and it works well. No knock on the camera snobs out there. After all, that is the phone's claim to fame. But to normal users like myself, I can tell you that you don't have to get all wound up by camera apps and lowlight performance nuances and which app does what better and all that. The camera is great, the plain camera app works great. You will take great pictures to your untrained or novicely trained eye. Don't stress over it. And if you at some later point want to dive into it, the capabilities are there.I also love the form factor. I hope every manufacturer starts making phones this size. I have had some huge phones (Note3, Pixel XL), but this one is way better with the long, slim profile. Reading web pages is great with the excessive vertical real estate. Watching videos I haven't noticed any compromises with the slimmer height. The phone is way more functional with this form factor than other XL sized phones. It's easier to hold, easier to use, easier to use one-handed, fits better in pockets. I love it.Battery so far is impressive. All day with moderate to heavy use and ~75% brightness, no problem. It has a battery saver charge mode which charges slower but I assume will be better long term for the battery's longevity. It has wireless Qi charging, works as it should.Screen is gorgeous, no complaints there. The phone is water resistant. I have gotten it wet on several occasions and thankfully it really is water resistant. I haven't submerged my phone, but heavy rain and shallow puddles and the like have not been a death sentence. I have also dropped it a couple times while it is in its Spigen case, and so far so good.Performance is that of a flagship phone. I have had flagship phones for 15 years now, and this one competes as it should. This one is just as snappy and fast as any flagship i've used in the past. Call quality seems fine, texting seems fine, Verizon network seems fine. All that stuff. No different than previous phones. It was expensive ($1200 with free true wireless earbuds, which pair and work flawlessly so far). So maybe ~$1050 in phone price, about on par with other high end flagships. I think the camera and form factor are worth any extra. They are everything I hoped they would be, and pretty much no other phone offers them. I'm happy to not have to roll the dice on another Samsung, which have been very hit or miss for me.I've been very satisfied. Take my N = 1 for what it's worth. Good luck finding your next phone.

Best all in one device yet!
Let me start with some background on me as a cell phone user. I've been an iPhone user since the original one and keept it till apple stopped supporting it. I've gotten new iPhones every other year since. When the 7 came out I had it for 9 days before returning it and getting my first Android phone the Sony Xperia XZ. I loved the screen quality, sound quality, and hardware. I ended up missing iOS. I went to the iPhone X as soon as it came out.In the time I was using the iPhone X, I found myself missing my Sony Xperia. It took nearly a year before Apple got my itune purchased ringtones to work again, the battery pack swole up so badly that you could look over the side lip and under the screen to what was on the other side(never had this happen with any Apple product before), and the back screen shattered on a fall in the first 3 months of ownership. Now, I fell down shoveling snow landing on my back pocket holding my original iPhone at least 5 times without any damage to it. The quality of Apples products is non-existent anymore. So, time for a new phone. The headphone jack for me was the reason to get this phone. I'm a head-fi guy who enjoys some good headphones and this was a welcome return. The screen quality is absolutely amazing. And the camera is so amazing. If you have a Sony Alpha series camera you will start using and loving the camera on this phone immediately. Sony has finally reminded consumers what a cell phone should be. A single device that can take the place of multiple devices. The music app plays DSD files at full quality, the camera's quality makes you not want to carry a separate camera as well, the screen image is to die for. A truly all in one device that only needs one accessory of a set of headphones. They give you the choice of wireless head phones or not instead of forcing their ignorance upon you as others do.($4000 Audeze LCD-4 owner who is not crippled by their cell phone any more)Update: I just went 4 days between charging on the Sony. I used it more than I did my old iPhone X during that time. As a point of reference, the iPhone could barely get to a day and a half between charges with lighter use when new.
