Works out of the box. No hassle.
True Plug & Play in Windows 10. Just install it onto your motherboard and it works straight away. No messing around with drivers etc.

Easy installation
Bought a second hand one for £10 cheaper. Only the packaging was a bit damaged but works perfectly. Plugged into the slot on the motherboard and picked up nicely by Windows 11. Just choose the capture software you want and away you go.

Just Worked
I discovered a bunch of old DV tapes together with my Sony Camcorder and realised I’d better get them transferred to my PC before it all died. The motherboard in my PC wouldn't take my old old FireWire card so went looking for a replacement and found this.Plugged it in and it just worked, couldn’t ask for more. Coupled it with the free WinDV software which is twenty years old but still works great on Windows 10) and started capturing my old memories. So much easier to do today with massive storage capacity and fast processors.Excellent product for the money that just worked with Windows 10, highly recommended for anyone else who comes across their old Camcorder.

New chipset doesn't work for Focusrite
I bought this to replace a pci card which connected my Focusrite liquid 56 to my pc as my new motherboard only has pcie slots. I bought this particular card because it has a Texas Instruments chipset which the previous card had. Unfortunately the Texas Instruments chipset on this card has been updated and no longer works with the Focusrite. If you're looking at buying this card to connect to recording hardware it won't work. You need a card with Texas Instruments chipset XIO2213B. The Startech Pex1394b3 has the required chipset. Unfortunately it's triple the price of this one. However, I got the 1394b3 and it's working perfectly with my new setup running windows 11. No messing about with legacy drivers or anything, just plugged the card in fired the system up and it connected. Hope this helps someone out there.

Little disappointed it came in just a plastic bag
It all seems to work, but I had to google how to install this as it just arrived in an Amazon envelope in a plastic bag.It didn't say it was second hand, but with no box and no instructions I was a little wary as to whether or not it was new and if I should proceed or not - especially as I've never done this before. It's all fairly intuitive in the end, and the PC does recognise the card and all the drivers seem to be there.

Works perfectly on Windows 10 with an old Edirol(now Roland) FA-66 Firewire Audio Interface
I built a new audio workstation for my step-dad to replace his 2008 iMac which was so slow it was impossible to do anything on it now. His main Audio interface still uses firewire. Most PC motherboards no longer come with firewire... dilemma... In comes this card.I had looked at others on here that are (alot!) cheaper, but the mixed reviews left me uncomfortable, I might have bought them and tried it if it was my PC but it wasn't, I paid the extra to get this, I'm glad I did.Recognized instantly by Windows 10 (latest Version Build 2004) I initially thought it didn't work but it was the Audio Interface that I needed to find the drivers for and install! This worked perfectly from the start. Discovered afterwards that most places recommend specifically getting firewire cards with the Texas Instruments (TI) chipset on them instead of the others, since all the other cards on here seem to be generic clones of the same card using a VIA chipset I chose this one.In the end I paid 3x the price of the generic clones but for peace of mind I'm glad I did, it works, my step dad is happy with his new computer, the audio is great. 5 stars.

Really is 'plug and play'
I had some old home video recordings on mini DV tapes that I have never got round to backing up on disk. The only way I could copy these tapes was to play them on the Panasonic NV-DS99 on which they were originally recorded. Unfortunately the only method of connecting to the NV-DS99 is by using its' firewire socket. My previous PC used to have a firewire port, my current one doesn't. This product solved that problem. I placed my order on Sunday evening and received the delivery by late Monday afternoon.Within one hour I had installed the Firewire card in my Dell XPS 8930 running Windows 10 Home and plugged in the camcorder and switched it on. It was recognised immediately and I was able to start capturing video using the relatively old Roxio Creator, version 10.Absolutely no configuration or other downloads required. All my mini DV tapes are now backed up on disk. Perfect.

Worked Straight Out Of The Box
Cheaper cards are available but I was wary of their potential quality so went for this slightly more expensive StarTech. I did not need any drivers or fiddle with settings with this card. I just plugged it in and Windows 10 recognised it immediately. I bought the card so I could use the old but still readily available (and free) WinDV program to capture video from an old DV camcorder. Everything is working.
