Distracted by lip smacking
This is an ok guided meditation. I had been doing free youtube meditations for months and thought I might check out an "official" one such as this one performed by a decorated meditation researcher. After listening to this meditation I realized that the free youtube ones are just as valid. In addition, Dr. Kabat-Zinn doesn't necessarily have the best voice for meditation. The recording is also of cheaper quality. I could hear his movements and lip smacking which actually distracted me from the meditation. I would recommend that you pass this by and instead search for Michael Seeley or Jason Stephenson on youtube, both of whom have many great guided mindfullness meditations, some the exact same format as this CD.

I would recommend purchasing the book by Jon Kabat Zin
I suffer from chronic back pain and this meditation series was a turning point for me in dealing with my pain. After 10 weeks of practicing these meditations my pain has changed from about a pain level 7 to a pain level 2 on most days. I would recommend purchasing the book by Jon Kabat Zin, Full Catastrophe Living, and his meditations CD's on Chronic pain to accompany these meditations. The book more full explains the meditations and chronic pain and how to live life fully despite having pain issues. As a Christian, I was reluctant to meditation that might be Buddhist in nature, however, these meditations are completely universal and neutral with no intention of trying to convert anyone to Buddhism. These meditations have been used successfully at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center for years with patients that suffer from pain and other health issues. I highly recommend this CD.

Yoga?!
It would be super helpful to know you need to know yoga to do this! Not very relaxing when the first words you hear are something like "while doing such and such yoga pose". When you've no clue what they're talking about.

Want to get healthy? Do this!!
What I like the best about this CD series is the peacefulness and better health that I now have.My sister is a clinical psychologist and told me that this Mindfulness CD from the Univ. of Mass. Stress Clinic is excellent for those who need to de-stress, to be much healthier, to be more flexible emotionally and physically, to be stronger, to learn to calm oneself, to breathe to relax and much more. It is the best thing I have EVER done for myself. I do it 6 days a week (at home) now. I went through the whole suggested program. My fav is CD 2 which is 40 mins of yoga. Therapeutic yoga. And I also do the breathing exercises. The body scan is really good, too! I had become allergic to all blood pressure meds this past year, so I needed a way to be able to tone things down so my bp would not rise. This has really helped. Be sure to get a thick mat even if you are doing the yoga on a rug. I have a half-inch mat which I got from Amazon, too. I also have the accompanying book on catastrophic living... it goes with the Cds... If you do this, you will be doing yourself a wonderful favor. I am no spring chicken... if I can do it and benefit from it the way I have, so can you. All the best to you!UPDATE- July 28, 2019: I still use this CD and do the lying down yoga and the full body scan on a regular basis. You strengthen your core and relax with the yoga, and I have been able to bring down my blood pressure and to really relax with the full-body scan. The deal is to do it often and on a regular basis.

Disappointing and overpriced nowadays
I'm a huge fan of Jon Kabat-Zinn's books and his mindfulness teachings. I was really excited for these CDs but was overall disappointed. The audio quality is not great, the audio volume is inconsistent (it goes up and down through the yoga disc, although this is mentioned at the beginning it is something which could have been easily corrected after recording), and the verbal instructions seemed to have been somewhat ad-libbed. These days there are so many free guided meditations you can find on sites like AudioDharma.org, or YouTube, that the cost of these CDs seems very overpriced.

It’s a good cd- just not for me
I guess I didn’t read the description because I thought I could listen to these in my car ride home to chill me out but it is for yoga- so If someone knows a good meditation cd for a car ride- please recommend

Dr. Kabat-Zinn is one of the top experts in teaching Mindfulness. These cd's are one example of his great skill.
I listen to these cd's frequently to help reduce stress, relax myself and help me fall asleep. With Mindfulness practice a person is supposed to listen fully and participate with the entire exercise, but Dr. Kabat-Zinn is so effective I've had difficulty staying awake when I am needing restfulness in addition to stress relief.

Very beneficial to your mental health
This is a wonderful set of CDs for those of us with Western minds who would benefit from daily meditation. A couple of the CDs are yoga based which I don't care for but the full body and sitting meditation CDs are wonderful. I am a pretty Type A person but commit myself to one of these CDs almost daily (they are about 40 minutes long each) and am always relaxed and happy when the CD ends. I would also recommend his book "Wherever You Go, There You Are" which complements the CDs beautifully

Worth every penny and worth finding the time to listen to the CD's.
I purchased this for a friend because they need to take a step back from all that is proving stressful to them. I have used the CD's on & off for 3 years. I try to keep to 2/3 times per week because I feel so calm afterwards and the deep breathing has enhanced my fitness levels. I highly recommend this set of CD's to anyone echo needs to step off the high octane of life and find some inner peace and feel in control again.

Body Scan
Very pleased with this. I have just taken a Mindfulness class and this is exactly what I wanted. There are 4 CDs in the set, but I am mostly using Disc 1 the body scan.
