Why Bother
After installing "HEAR" on my iMAC with JBL speakers and trying the program for a few days, I uninstalled it. I couldn't hear any difference and the effects did not affect my computer. There was no change in any music played on the iMAC but there was a distracting echo added to the audio portions of any videos that I watched. I have been using computers since the Apple II back in 1979 and don't consider this program to be particularly user-friendly either. I do like the artwork on the box, however. I suggest that Joesoft keep their graphics artist but fire their software designer.

Does not work with the Fast User Switching
It works reasonably well for iTunes or Spotify but there are several flaws. * as soon as several users are logged simultaneously and play with Hear's settings, only one of the user session really controls Hear (and of course, this is not the foreground user session, thanks to Murphy's law, but the first user who launches Hear) * some applications seem to bypass Hear (Garageband, even Mail !?) * bad interactions with soundflower (parasitic noise generated on the soundflower virtual soundcard)Almost useless for me.

HEAR does not work with Mac sys 10.8.1 Mountain Lion
I am told it does not work with Lion either (Mac System 10.7)The program inspired me. I thought it was wonderful when I started using it with music on iTunes. It seriously notched the music up a level. After I was finished listening, I opened Logic and was unable to get any sound at all. Next I tried GarageBand with the same result. I kept getting a core audio error message #28773. After several hours of trying to get both to work, I had to reinstall the entire audio file in the Library from a recently created back-up drive. HEAR no longer worked but the error message was gone and I could get sound in Logic and GarageBand again. I removed HEAR from my computer.Clearly this software is not ready for distribution. When the bugs are worked out, it will be amazing.

Will change the way you Hear your music (Couldn't resist!)
So I take sound seriously, and in my small apartment there isn't enough room for the speakers I dream of having. However, with Hear, and this is the amazing part. My tiny JBL speakers sound large, full, rich, and clear. The sound was just plain muddy out of my Macbook before I got this program, and the difference is night and day. It's a system wide software solution that allows you to really maximize your idea. Totally worth the price !And to boot, the customer service was amazing. I e-mailed them about a missing serial number and they took care of me in a matter of hours. These folks know what matters and your ears will thank you.

Horrible Product and Support
I have tried this product on 2 systems with horrible results. It will not work with iTunes and or any browser based music player. It worked briefly with Amazon Music Player but would not work with Amazon online. What good is it if it will not work with 2 of the largest music providers in the nation. Every time I have contacted tech support with issues, I get the same email with uninstall and reinstall instructions., even though I responded and told this did not fix the issue, I got the same canned email response. They apparently do not even read the email to see what the issue is. On top of that, two of the files they tell me to delete does not exist and never has and I had earlier versions. So farmy experience with this product and support has been absolutely awful to say the least. I cannot recommend this product in any shape form or fashion. Do not buy this software!

Amazing sound enhancement!!
For such an inexpensive app the results are wonderful. Even without fiddling with the many individual controls, the presets for diifferent types of sound and music so incredibly enhanced my iTunes collection played through the cheapest of external speakers that they sounded as though they had cost ten times as much. I've only just bought it and look forward to finding out what else it can do. One of the best apps I ever bought for the Mac.

This app is a TOTAL waste of money
This app is a TOTAL waste of money. Only works with a few music streaming services. The equalizer in iTunes is a better solution for adjusting sound than this garbage app. I can only hope this company goes out of business for selling a useless app. Just plain awful.

Hear by Joesoft soon will be available as standard Mac software: God forbid, if its not!
I recently downloaded Joe Soft's software, Hear. And. I have to tell you all, that after my "day job," I sit in front of my computer for hours, writing. Sure, I know, Hear "electronically" processes the music streaming down from the hard drive, what else do people expect in this age of digital, technology? We have to face it, analog technology, as beautifully warm as it is, is a thing, of the past, and, believe me, the fastest processors slowly are approximating the clarity and high warmth of analog, without the "sizzle" trailing behind the open sound. Anyway. Hear is an amazing product which (still nascent, experimenting) is one of the first to play with the sound of compressed or uncompressed, digitally magical sound. To cut pragmatically, things short, purchase it. You won't be unsatisfied. It is the only program available today which heightens the sound of any application streaming through your (now) poor sounding Mac. Just, buy it. I Promise you, you won't be sorry...especially after you learn how to unlock the sound potential it has inside, all the available settings you can muster to play with manually and soon arriving to "perfection" inside your ears becoming highly sensitive, to bad sound!
