Great little reel for the price.
This isn't super expensive and isn't super fancy, but it is super handy. This little reel his a nice, fast retrieve rate, which makes it more realistic for things like bass fishing with moving lures or reeling in larger fish quickly so as not to give them slack. I've caught some decent fish (up to 3-4 lb flounder, reds) on this reel so far and have really enjoyed using it. It casts like a dream and is pretty hassle-free, plus it makes a great spare to loan to non-fishermen so they don't ruin my baitcasters.

Nice.
Haven't fished it yet but it appears to be very well built

Impressed on first use!
I'm impressed with this reel right of the box and used it once for panfish in the local duck pond. It very smooth and feels like it's better quality when compared to that other producer of mass market spincast reels, you probably know the one I'm talking about, we all had one when we were kids, but you can't mention names.I'll give it 5 stars now, if it doesn't hold up, I'll be back to update my review.

Not worth the price
Not worth $22.99 compared to the much better Magreel which is $9.99. The Lew's line is good, much better than the Magreel, but $13.99 will buy a lot of mono.Worst part is the drag, typical of Johnson style reels. There really is no lock down position. Worse, when the drag is increased, the reel gets tough to turn. For this price, Lew's could do better. The build quality is good, was well lubed, but you will be playing bluegills like they were marlins given the light drag. I will say it spools evenly, has metal everywhere, is solid, palms well. The drag needs to be fixed. Will keep it, fish it. Maybe my review will change. Sometimes they fish better than their initial impression. See my Magreel review and pics. Other than the factory line, it is head and shoulders about the Lew's.

3 month review!!
Well its been 3 months I have had this reel and it hangs up on the cast out 50 percent of the time.Really sucks because I really like this little reel. Love its size. It just doesn't work right!!Unfortunately I am past the time I can send it back. Going to see if the manufacture will make good on the defect!!

Good for me !
Good reel. I use it on a large river. I Fish tight line for Catfish. The drag is good and the reel in general is strong. I changed the line to a hi-vis braid. Reel picks up slack with little or no slack on the line. You don't have to pull from the front and reel it till tightly.

JUST PLAIN JUNK!
I bought this for a new fisherman and have never regretted a purchase (of anything) more. At least half of the casts "hung up" inside the reel. I'm a 50-plus year fisherman and am quite familiar with the workings of virtually every variety of reel but this one simply baffled me. It would cast perfectly one time and then fail to release the next two. I'd take it apart and examine it but could not observe any problems inside the reel. On the next attempt it would cast without incident maybe two times and then hang up on the next cast. So if you're looking for something to help a youngster enjoy a first outing DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE. If, on the other hand, you're looking for a way to spoil two days of fishing pleasure, this is the right product. And if zero stars is a possible rating, I need to lower my rating by one star. As I said in the headline, this product is JUNK - plain and simple!
