Description Arthrospira (Spirulina) platensis is a cyanobacteria that is incredibly high in protein, lipids and other nutrients. It is extensively used as a feed supplement in aquarium, aquaculture and poultry industries. We are a certified State of Florida Aquaculture Facility and have to adhere to a strict set of rules and regulations governing our operations and growth practices. This in turn means that you are guaranteed to receive highest possible quality product. All of our microalgae products are guaranteed to be free of contaminants, grown under specifically designed protocol to maximize protein and lipid production while using highest (including food grade) chemicals. All of our Spirulina cultures are fed strictly by Zarrouk's SM growth medium, which is one of the oldest and proven mediums designed for growing different strains of Arthrospira (Spirulina) genus. Using this medium we can achieve high biomass production, better β-carotene synthesis and increased antioxidant potential of all our Arthrospira strains. The most commonly used mediums used in Spirulina production are Zarrouk's SM, Schlosser SMM and RM6. Note that f/2 medium, which is commonly used in cultivation of marine microalgae, is not an acceptable medium for Spirulina as it produces nutritionally deficient cultures. All of the mediums are manufactured using distilled/deionized water (dH2O) and highest possible grades of chemicals (A.C.S, Reagent and USP). Food grade chemicals used whenever possible. What's included in the Kit This kit includes an Erlenmeyer flask, rubber stopper with a hole, rigid and flexible airline tubing, air pump, live Arthrospira platensis (Spirulina) culture and Zarrouk's SM growth medium. What's NOT included in the Kit This kit does not include lighting, baking soda and common table salt. These items have to be purchased separately.
