Direct fitment and easy installation
This K&N was easy to install, fit perfectly in my G8 and performing exactly as expected. There really isn't any needed documentation other than how to open your air box. The longest part of the installation is putting the airbox clips back on.More importantly, no codes were thrown. I do know for some, oil air filters can mess up the MAF sensor which can lead to a warning light/message/code. Haven't had any issues since I installed it

Great Drop In - It "can" save you money...
I avoid the whole K&N "does it hurt or help MPG" debate. Search the internet, some say a K&N will increase your MPG, other say it will make little difference. The basis for this being a good value is that the dealership wanted $29.99 (but they'd install it for free, how nice *rolls eyes*) for an OEM filter. None of my local parts shop carried them and could only order K&N's for $55. In fact, even looking around on line, doesn't seem like FRAM or STP make any of these. Given the G8 is no longer in production, it will be even harder to locate disposable drop ins.Amazon had it for $43, after just one recharge, it pays for itself:2 OEM Air Filters @ $29.99 = $60.1 K&N @ $43 + 1 Recharge @ $13 = $56.After that first recharge, really, you're saving $15 per change.I've had 3 other K&N and I personally noticed a better performance. In theory you should also get better gas mileage, however, that is widely debated whether or not K&N give you better gas mileage. So you'll feel a little more pep in your G8 (I had them in my supercharge Grand Prix and they worked great). From a pure deal standpoint, after 2 air filers, you're already up $4, each subsequent air filter and you're saving $15 over OEM filters.INSTALLATION NOTES:This is a pure "drop in". Some K&N's had the foam gasket you had to install, not this one. Just open the box, remove old filter, drop this in, snap air box back together and put the K&N sticker on your air box so the yahoo's working on your car don't harass you about a dirty air filter. Took me less than 3 minutes.

Jesus!!! Why did I wait so long?
Fits my Pontiac G8 GXP that I've owned for 4 years with a new LS3 motor I got dropped in last year. My God I thought my car was fast before but it's flying off the line now, my sport shift is even matter and the acceleration in any gear is impressive. I've been conservative with my engine so this is my first mod. Had one in a G6 GXP before but I don't recall it being this good. In love all over again

K&N w/ Stock box or CAI
Slight increase in sound and maybe power. Throttle response was sharper which is the biggest gain from this filter....smoother run under heavy acceleration. Had a Volant CAI on the car before this. The CAI saw better power made at mid range but throttle response was a bit sluggish. The stock box with this filter is a good buy for you buck......would recommend!

Good filter, but no mpg or hp increase
I didn't see an improvement in MPG as some reviewers did. Maybe a 'very' slight improvement in throttle response, but could still be placebo. Worth the money because you can wash and re-use them forever. My only complaint is that you should wash it before the first use- they come from the factory with lots of little plastic bits and junk on them.

JUST AN AIR FILTER...
IT'S AN AIR FILTER. NOTHING MORE. NOTHING LESS. WILL SAVE YOU MONEY IN THE LONG RUN BY NOT HAVING TO BUY A NEW ONE EVERY FIFTY THOUSAND MILES OR SO.PLUS, THEY ARE STILL MADE IN AMERICA(DISCLAIMER: AT THE TIME OF THIS WRITING). THE CAR DOES RESPOND BETTER AND PERHAPS A MILE MORE PER GALLONS OF GAS GAINED. IF THIS WAS ACHEIVED BY ADDING AN AIR FILTER, I CAN ONLY IMAGINE WHAT A WHOLE NEW INTAKE WOULD ACCOMPLISH. IT SHOULD BE ARRIVING IN THE MAIL SHORTLY. ZOOOMMMMM....... ZOOOMMMMM....... SOME COMPLAIN THE OIL USED TO RE-OIL THE FILTER MAY OR DOES CONTAMINTE THE MASS-AIR FLOW SENSOR. I BEG TO DIFFER. THIS IS ONLY REVELANT IF YOU OVERAPPLY THE SOLUTION, EVEN STILL ALL IS NOT LOST IN "KEEPING" THE SENSOR. JUST REMOVE THE SENSOR AND ALLOW OIL TO EVAPORATE (CHECK THE INTERNET FOR SPECIFICITY).I'M MR. COOPER. THAT'S MY TWO CENTS. NOW SPEND IT WISELY.
