WTH CISCO?!??!
Is Cisco losing their ever lovin' mind?!! This "Cert Guide" book is absolutely ridiculous. Which tells me their Cert test is going to be JUST as Ridiculous. This book is 900+ pages (2-1/2 inches!!!) across 26 marginally related subjects (chapters) And, that's NOT counting the Intro, ToC, or indexes! This is for a single frickin' exam!!! I cant even... This is their QoS cert all over again which helped sink their CCIP cert program. Everything about cisco these days screams "if youre not CCIElite, we dont want you!". "If you can't memorize a measly 900 pages and regurgitate it nearly verbatim during under the gun pressure, time-limits, and trick-questions of a cert exam, you're not good enough for us, and you never will be". This book is the most ridiculously unapproachable way to prepare for a Cert Exam I've ever seen. And, I've taken a few as a CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, and a few others, along with 20+ years of experience across a broad range of related subjects (mostly IP-WAN & ISP, full disclosure). And cisco wonders why they cant maintain market share?! Between the cost to buy, the cost to maintain, the cost of Cisco TAC support, the Cost to Cert-Up my crew, etc... As a budgeting manager, I can too readily and easily cut costs in just about any category that cisco touches just by not using cisco, and I can still maintain a rock-solid network! So, unless youre in the top-3% of every aspect of your current Internetworking security-identity job with years of experience in this subject, do not expect to buy this book and actually pass the cert exam from it! In fact, dont even buy this book! Every subject in it can be learned much more easily and thoroughly with Youtube, Internet searches, cisco DOCS, a couple of Dummies books, and some A.I. tutoring. If you're looking to get cisco cert'd in this subject, this book is NOT the way to go about it.

A Lot of Embarrassing Mistakes...
There are numerous mistakes that a good editor would have caught. I am only 32% percent of the way done through my first readthrough, but I have noticed several errors. The errors do distract from the content. They disrupt the flow of the content, and they cause me to have to pause and reread or reexamine examples and figures. I am reading the Kindle version, so some of these errors may only be present in this version. I am inclined to believe that some of the stranger errors (e.g., seemingly random numbers in the middle of paragraphs or sentences) are not present in the physical release. Examples 12-1 and 12-2 (screenshots attached) provide a good example of the types of errors you will unfortunately have to deal with while reading this book. Don't be cheap when it comes to hiring an editor! Update: Per the Kindle Reader, I am now about 40% of the way through the book. I continue to spot errors as I read through the material (see attached screenshot from the beginning of the "Verify Profiling" section). As I am not even half way through the material, I fully expect to encounter several more errors. I am extremely disappointed that Cisco Press allowed this to be published in its current state. Proofreading may be tedious, but it is an important component of the publication process!
