Good Knife for the Price
Overall in spite of some of the negative reviews, this is a nice knife for the money. It feels good in the hand. Has a nice weight to it. And although it ISN'T a full tang, if taken care of and used properly, this knife can provide years of good service to the owner. The Schrade steel comes very sharp and is easy to keep sharp. The handle is finger grooved for easy grasping. The sheath is well made and worth the purchase price alone. It also comes with a wet stone, or if removed, a place for a smaller pocket knife. Yes there is a screw at the top of the handle. Because it's a rat tail. If you prefer one like this, but want a full tang, buy the Buck, the same version runs between $59.00-$99.00 depending on the type of handle. I own about 100 knives. This is a good knife and will make a great addition to your collection and provide years of service if properly maintained. I have an older one that's over 40 years old. Just bear in mind, this isn't a knife to clear a path through the boonies, cut down trees or throw into them. it's a good choice for hunting, camping, even skinning. For this price, well worth owning.

Great Knife !!! with small caveats... easily overlooked...
heard a lot of good, waited until it was 21 dollars.had it 23 hours, and I cant stop holding it, I used it first nite, I washed it dried it thoroughly (its carbon steel i think but its a good habit)cut up some steak and potatoes, and some tomatoes effortlessly. washed it in hot water thoroughly dried it and thenI oiled it with 3 in 1 Oil (all I had handyused it next day all is looking great.Yeah its clear its imitation stag or "staglon" as its called but its still really an attractive peace. both the blade and the sheath.like other i will repurpose the sheaths stone pocket for other things, tinder, etc... smaller sharper etc. small kit .. you guy know...anyways, I really love it. My wife commented on its and she likes it and its shape, styling etc. She happens to be in fashion show she knows what looks good. That said, small cheapness to the knife in certain areas.the sheath dings easily, but can be repair and improved.and the stitching on the sheath comes apart due to the shape of the knife and hilt.I am planing to take out the factory stitches and replace them by a professional leather shop, with aftifical sinew so as not to cut the leather when its secured tightly.again, that may sound like a lot of work but, condisering all i got for 20 buck to my door.a few more to help it stay secure and cared fore will keep it looking and working. for years to come.I will update with more.

This is one SHARP knife!
Love this knife. Im glad I bought it - even though it drew first blood on me. I used to have one of these a long time ago, and it vanished so when I saw it on sale I just had to snap it up. I was impressed with the quality. The sheath is great, in fact the leather on mine is quite pretty, with a swirly grain pattern... Definitely not a sheath I would expect on an inexpensive knife like this. (Your mileage may vary - remember no two hides are the same)It is SHARP. Insanely sharp. Wickedly sharp. Sharper than I thought it would be. Sharp enough that I accidentally sliced my finger to the bone. Keep this in mind if you are clumsy like me, or if you are gifting it to young sportsmen. I wasn't doing anything stupid with it either, I laid it on the table to look at the sheath, and then reaching for something else accidentally hit the blade and raised a flap right to the bone in a split second of inattention. Its THAT sharp. Considering the job it did on me, I have no doubt it will make dressing my next deer or hog fast and easy....I'm impressed with the knife, and impressed with the quality. It comes with a pretty nice gift box,. a leather sheath, and a sharpening stone. Its a good hunting knife at a great price. In terms of quality I would say its superior to other knives I've bought for twice the price.

Brings back memories
A nice fixed blade. I had one as a child and had to buy another. I was surprised to see they still use the same steel. The way they harden it, makes it hold an edge. It has good balance. I love the look. The weight is great. It came dull. A bit of polishing me it razor sharp. This is a great skinning, outdoor, and food prep knife. The sharpening stone is junk.

Strongly Recommended
Note ( you will see the same / similar knife review on the ELK RIDGE # ER-027 ).Both are Beautiful!!Both are well made and perform very well for intended purposes. The UH is a bit longer. The UH uses “ Staglon “ handle and the ER says “ simulated “ . I think both are pretty much the same BUT the winner is the UH IMO.The UH reads “ Rat Tail Tang “... so I am going out on a limb and say that the ER is also part of the “ Rat “ family .The UH is made of that 7CR17 high carbon stainless steel —,the ER is just Stainless . ( no real definition of steel listed as of the writing of this review ).The UH has a beautiful brown leather sheath with sharpening stone . The ER comes with a standard black leather sheath ( still nice ).I see why the UH is only about $10 more .I strongly Recommend BOTH !!!Be careful— out of the box Sharp !!!I hope this helps ....**** Update**** The UH is now only $3.00 more as of Oct 2019 . Nice !!

My Favorite knife of all time. I’ve had Many
Excellent grip Everything about this knife is amazing! Best Skinning knife I’ve ever used! I highly recommend this knife. Not for beginners. So very sharp and holds its edge. Wet rock in nice leather sheath. It won’t have to be used much. Unless you’re trying to dull this Awesome knife
