Super fun and simple! Very functional!
Super fun and easy to use!I have a 6 year old who loves potato chips, marshmallows, and Doritos. The problem is that he doesn't ever close the bags. I bought this to make it a "fun" way to seal the bag... Well turns out that I had too much fun with it to even let him touch it lol. Yeah my life isn't as exciting as it was "pre-children" and I really live for the "little things".When you use the sealing side, it seals a very thin line (about the width of a pencil mark). It worked great on marshmallow and chip bags, but the flimsy crinkly clear plastic that the item came in did not have as much success. It basically melted that bag but I don't know if any food item bags that use that kind of material. The cutter is ok. Doesn't work as well on the more stretchy bags like ziplock style, but works great on foil chip bags. Maybe I just haven't practiced enough! If my review helped you please mark the respective button! Thanks!

Seals as advertised, still need scissors
The sealer portion works well, albeit it takes a little practice. It is difficult if you try to start sealing at the very end. I start about an inch in from where I want the seal to start. Then after holding it down for about 5 seconds to heat up, I seal to the other edge. For thicker bags, you need to move slower. For thinner bags, more quickly. If you try to move too slow on thin bags, then you can actually melt holes in the bag. So if you are not sure, start by going quicker and if it doesn’t seal, then go slower. Once it is sealed from where I started, an inch away from the edge, then I go back and seal that gap. It really is easy with a little practice. The cutting blade is good for certain applications, but once again, it takes a little practice. I tended to always try to use the wrong side of the blade at first. The cutter does not work well if the bag is too thick. It works best with thin bags like chocolate chip bags. It does not work at all if the seal is too far from the top edge of the bag, as you can only stick the bag so far into the tool. So you may still need to use scissors around because if you tear the bag, you risk making the edge jagged and hard to seal.I like the hook, I hang it from the pull on my cabinet where the chips are (and it stays out of reach to my 3 yr old)I like that it uses common sized batteries so I can use my rechargeables . The cover on the battery compartment snaps off a little too easily and sometimes it slides when I am using it.

It works! (Kinda)
Semi-sturdy plastic with a nice hanging clip. Packaging was damaged but I can chalk that up to Amazon being cheap and hiring contractors to run deliveries. One side slices bags open (still haven’t used that feature once) and the other seals of course. Well, you’d think it’d seal the bag, but there’s always gaps. I consistently have to run the thing over my bags 3-4 times to get a PASSABLE seal. I’ve practiced for far longer than I care to admit, and I’ve decided at this point it’s fair to partially blame the product. This is cheaper and much nicer than having a zillion “chip-clips” laying around my kitchen. Give it a try and if you don’t like it the company has a decent return policy. I have a feeling by the end of your test drive you’ll come to the same conclusion as me, it’s a fancy and semi-pretentious tool designed to do one thing that can be achieved with scotch tape, but once you have it it’s nice enough to keep ;)

What a clever gadget!
I had never even heard of this sort of tool before. I was definitely skeptical that it would work as advertised, but I was able to use it with no difficulty whatsoever. I sealed a potato chip bag almost perfectly on my first attempt. I was able get it sealed airtight after resealing a couple spots. There is a bit of a trick to figure out the time to let it heat before you start sliding and how fast to slide it, but worst case you go too slow and rip the bag or too fast and it doesn't seal. This varies by material, as indicated in the instructions. The cutting blade on the opposite end is a bonus, and again, it depends on what material you are cutting how well this works. Overall, this device works as well as you would expect. It all just depends on the material you are sealing or cutting. You'll have better luck if the material is flat with no wrinkles or jagged edges.

100% failure
chip bag heat sealer and cutter experiments were a FAIL.so now i knowThe level of expertise that one would have to develop in order to perfectly use this product is ridiculous. The failure rate was 100% at our current skill level. I will continue to use a chip clip.I am confident that if you found a person with OCD who was willing to fail most of the time just to have this work properly some of the time then you would have a person who could at least be amused by the product and the process. The cutter is weak. It only cuts consistently fir a couple of inches. We were not able to get one clean line of an opening on a full size chip bag that is approx 12 inches wide. The heat thing sealed only some of the package , leaving gaps that were not sealed. And the heat sealer consistently left a melted hole wherever you begin the seal. You have to stand there and firmly hold the heat clamp together for 3-5 seconds fir the heat thing to even begin to be heated to the proper temperature.Believe me, in less than 3-5 seconds i could already have a chip clip in place and be on my way.Our family will return this item and happily continue to use a chip clip.
