Where are the cords that plug into the outlet? Are they at the bottom or the top of the bed?

We have had the queen sized mattress pad for several years. While we have been very pleased with the heating capabilities and controls, we have noticed that the connectors from the controls to the matress pad are getting very hot. It's to the point that we feel that it is hazardous. Because the plugs from the controls to the pad are not sealed - you can actually see the wires in the connector - I wrapped some electricians tape around the connectors and the wires to stabilize the connection. The tape is melting. We have also noticed that the fabric on the bottom of the pad is separating along several stitches.  While we have had the product for several years, we feel that we must replace it for our safety, even though it is still  functional.

Is it machine washable?

Accepted Answer

It is washable.  Detailed instructions come with it.  Machine or hand wash.  Never dry clean or use bleach.  Disconnect cords from pad.  Place in machine and fill tub with warm water.  Add small amount detergent and soak for 5 mins. Agitate on gentle or delicate for 2 mins.  Spin on normal speed. Fill tub for cool rinse. Agitate  for 1 min and spin dry.  Never put thru wringer.  Never use commercial dryer.  Too hot.  Damages cords.  To machine dry put in your dryer on low heat and tumble til dry. Assure your pad has room to tumble.  Or, line dry with head and foot ends down.  That's all.  Great item.  Love it. Hope this helps.

Question 3

Can this be used with an automatic timer by turning on the push button and leaving set until timer starts?

Accepted Answer

No. The electric to the unit from the plug runs the low voltage transformer. Once the timer at the wall plug would shut off the 110 volts, the low voltage circuit in the blanket controls would turn off until you physically push the button on the controls to turn it on again. Sorry.

Is this product safe from electromagnetic radiation? If so, how? what is the range of the waves?

Accepted Answer

First of all, this product uses Direct Current (DC), so it operates at 0Hz (zero cycles per second).  Secondly, people who think that 60Hz (60 cycles per second) waves are harmful to humans, are misinformed.  You are surrounded by strong 60Hz (50Hz in Europe) electro-magnetic waves all day, every day, unless you live in a very remote area with NO electric service.Even if this product used Alternating Current (AC), which it does not, it would be safe.
