you do the roots but not too close...or it gets on the scalp..you do not want bleach on the scalp. it's hard to say "am i sure" it's hard to give advice without seeing the hair. If you are using a demi dye or a color depositing shampoo, if the hair is light enough, it should enrich the color without bleaching. Play it safe, test all this on a small swatch of hair before committing to the entire head. Q: I have natural red hair. How will this product effect it?? I haven’t seen anyone with my hair color talk about this.

My friend has natural red hair and it did turn it blonde however, she left it in a little too long making her hair dry. When using this, I would make sure you constantly check where you apply it and use vitamin c or something to help prevent the strands from being dried out. My hair is dark brown/black and I used vitamin c and other things to protect my hair from too much damage when I used it.

Q: I was reccommened to get this to bleach my brownish violet hair to blonde, i was wondering if this works well and if so will it fry my hair?

this works very well. if you follow directions and if your hair is not already damaged, you will be fine. you don't want to bleach too many times... twice a year is generally trouble for most people. If you have fine, thin hair... you don't want to be bleaching twice a year.
