The most powerful book I have ever read.
This book has honestly changed my life! My 4 year old son is incredibly shy and this had started to affect his social interactions both in and out of school. Within a week of using this at home, he started initiating conversations with adults. His behaviour at home dramatically improved and his conversation stopped being repetitive. I think it empowered him to step into more grown up way of communicating, he felt heard and interested in his environment. I am blown away by his confidence the power of declarative language!

Really handy book.
A really interesting read and definitely lots to think about. Nice writing style and very informative. Have found this useful for working with children and guiding them without telling them.

Easy to read and helpful
Really useful and easy to get into guide. Recommend for all parents of PDA kids. It still takes a lot of thought planning how to say things to my child but definitely a useful tool.

Great book.
A brilliant book for parents of autistic and/or PDA children. Great language swaps for everyday use. I found it really helpful in engaging with my son and minimising meltdowns.

Great!
Such an informative helpful book. I've got a house full of PDA'ers. It works so well for my teenage son. I just wish the educatio system would take this on board then we might get somewhere.

This may have to do with the seller I am getting this from - I was appalled to find that page 1 to page 62 was trying to teach me about Necronomicon, and talks about “Black Magic of Primary Forces” with info graphics and verses that is definitely not Declarative Language! Please exercise extreme caution and choose your seller wisely.

I am a speech language pathologist. Over the years I have been using declarative language and still struggling to convey it to parents in a structured way and help them adapt it too. This book gives me all the necessary info to make it more practical for parents to learn declarative language. Thank you so much 🙏

This book is clearly written, easy to read, peppered with helpful examples, and overall simply and effectively explains use of declarative language. Don’t let all this clarity and simplicity fool you into thinking the concept is simple, though! Embedded seamlessly within use of declarative language is a whole interaction style, a teaching style, a nurturing style, a therapeutic style, a philosophy really, of relating with children with social learning challenges. Making interactions about sharing emotionally meaningful problem-solving experiences rather than delivering demands or quizzing is at the heart of using declarative language, and Ms. Murphy’s examples are rich in illustrating meaningful experiences. This approach is also consistent with much of what child psychotherapists do. As a psychologist, I highly recommend this book not only for parents, teachers and speech therapists, but also for psychotherapists. Karen Levine, Ph.D.
