Q: Is there another inch of depth in the lid? Is it padded?. A 1.2" difference between interior and exterior...really?

There is an egg carton type sponge in the lid, it appears to be glued. I haven't removed it, but it is thick enough to gain another inch.

I was given the option and chose medium, However I wish I would’ve taken a larger one. I’d like it a lot I will probably get another one..
