Q: Would this make our current brush holders on the counter outdated? Not sure about storage

Yes, it won’t be able to fit as the base and the brush itself is significantly larger than your traditional toothbrush.

I don't know the answer. We actually use this to clean our dog's teeth, as he easily breaks standard toothbrushes. This model is built stronger. BTW, they also make a model wherein you can replace just the brush head and its stem, so you can reduce plastic waste.
