I teach middle school, I'm also a woodcarver. Constantly have students at my desk asking to borrow a pencil, some return them, others break them into pieces to leave behiond or trail down the hall. Havent' had a pencil returned OR broken since I started passing out carved pencils. Kids love them!!Teachers ask for them too, I have offered to teach them to make their own. No takers, yet...Great book, Thanks

In the photo it shows the paragraph where it says what type of pencil they recommend using. I have used regular 100% wood pencils and have not had great results. I should be picking up the correct kind today. But I do like the book it seems very simple and straightforward. Strangely though all of the photos with descriptions are not real photos they are drawings but they are good enough that you know what you were supposed to be doing. I would have given it five stars had it been either a combination of real and drawn photos or all real photos.

Don't know that I will ever attempt it but the book sure makes it look plausible. Several patterns with step by step instructions. Really cool looking. Just don't know if I have the talent but fun to dream about.

Love the book and the easy to follow instruction. Would love to see real picture of some of the cuts over the drawing but the the book get the job done. Fun book

Good to teach yourself step by step

This book presents a few projects and goes into detail on how to carve these pencils. I am very happy with the book.

I thought the book would have a few more designs and pages to it. Other then that It was good

Very interesting. The book is very explanatory and lots of pictures, It will take some practice and patience and not to much skill because of the pictures in the book. Cheers. June.

This book is over priced with very little in it that you will find in a large amount of other literature or on you tube for free

good book. lovely illustrations. good for using up pencils easy to follow explanations gives many ideas for carving anything you like
