Tamiya 1/32 Lunch Box Junior Wide Mini 4WD

This packaged Lunchbox Jr is just a small kit you put together, add batteries, turn it on, and it drives straight ahead until you turn it off. It's not remote controlled or anything. But, the kit is perfect for modifying a Losi micro RC car.I bought on of these on eBay to modify my Losi micro crawler. The body may be slightly too small (1/32 vs 1/24 scale), but it looks great. The wheels are very large, but very light so they need weight added, otherwise the crawler is top-heavy. I had to use a Dremel to modify the wheels to fit on the crawler axels. The body is easily modified to fit the micro crawler by drilling small holes to fit the body mounts.A friend bought the Tamiya Jr Unimog with the hopes of a similar experience. The bod is not as easy to mount, and the wheels are very small. We want to try the Tamiya Jr Monster Beetle next, if we can find it at a reasonable price.

ミニ四駆が登場して２０年が過ぎ、その当時小学生だった私は友達とコースを作り楽しく走らせたものです。ただ、どちらかといえばラジコンのバッテリー充電の合間に…。そして家庭を持ち３０歳を過ぎた今、再び購入してしまいました。妻は「邪魔になる」といったものの「はがき１枚程度だよ」と言ったら納得。しかも、この車種は２台目。アメリカ的雰囲気がいいですね。間もなくラジコン版が再登場するようですが、歳をとったのかな、小学生時代は速さ重視のバギーでしたが今はのんびり、コミカル路線ですね。
