Q: can you hang from the ceiling?

I suppose u could, but I wouldn't put too much weight on the hanging peice. I would suggest at least three support for each segment

I believe so, but you'll need all the hardware for the split that's on both ends,and that may run more than just buying 2 smaller ones. V

Q: Will this work on any brand speaker or light stand?

I bought the right size Of clamps to fit and hooked up my lights just fine. Not sure about speakers, depending on the weight.

Q: I understand the truss is light weight, so, is each 5' section strong enough to hold 4 led lights? about 2-3 pounds each.

Yes. I have 2 lasers one weighs around 10lbs the other 2 lbs us 4 led par light with no issues. The truss is stout 1.5 inch tubing. The instructions are none existent but I figured it out.
