I would say they can be taken outside and used but shouldn’t be installed as a permanent fixture outside. They are definitely not water tight or even moisture resistant for any extended period of time. It is a quality product and can possibly sealed to suit your needs but it would definitely take a little “MacGyver” ingenuity !
