Just what we wanted.
Don't worry about this grill not getting hot enough. Super hot. Gets that way fast.

LONGEVITY!
I have two (2) of these, both over 12 years sitting outside. One at the Beach in Southern California, the other at 6,200' elevation in the California Mountains. Both look like they were purchased within the month, despite more than a decade of salt air or heavy snow. Yes, the igniters give out after a year or so, but so what . . . I simply use a long neck $2 butane lighter. I love the Coleman bottles they use. No more 5 Gal Propane take to fill. No more rusted out hulks on wheels to dispose of! 5 STARS!

shell and top remained in good shape. It is a very nice looking grill ...
This is our second Magma Del Mar Grill. The first one lasted over 10 years in a beach environment before all the inside components corroded away. The stainless steel base, shell and top remained in good shape. It is a very nice looking grill that is perfect for a small patio. It heats fast and evenly. Our only problem is that the igniter didn't work from day one.

used to be great units, now they are junk
I bought one of these back in 2005 and it was a great unit. Worked fine for 10 years then I moved out of state and decided to order a new one. The one I ordered in 2015 is a total piece of JUNK - it fell apart in less than one year. The button broke off, the gas control unit froze and does not work. They used to be great, but now they are cheaply made and have no quality. Back to buying a cheap gas BBQ that I throw out every year.

Best Quality Grill Ever!
Excellent USA quality! I purchased the natural gas version in 2005 here on Amazon and I am still using it. I rebuilt it this year for $200 in parts and now it is like new again. It should be good another 10 years easy. It has been left outside all year long since 2005. It has never had any rust on it. But the grill, burner cover and other hot parts have worn down gradually to the point they needed to be replaced this year. I was amazed that the grill surface lasted 11 years, I have never had a grill grate last more than 2-3 years before this one. I think it is just better quality stainless steel. Even the canvas cover that came with it is still good after 11 years in the weather. (I did wash it and waterproof it yearly) It looks like it is maybe one year old now. There is just no substitute for quality. Buy one if you want something that will last. It has good temperature control and allows me to cook Brats to golden brown without burning them. I love the NG version. LP has always burned too hot for me.I don't write many reviews but this grill deserves 5 stars! It is top notch. Nobody paid me for this review - Magma earned it the old-fashion way. Quality, Quality, Quality! Great customer service too - they helped me get the right parts - very friendly and helpful

Quality beyond belief
I bought this grill as I live in a high-rise in downtown San Diego and wanted something that could stand up to the full sun and salt air. The grill is made with a heavy grade stainless steel outer shell and an interior liner to contain the heat. This dual layer also prevents the outer stainless surface from darkening due to the heat. This grill gets VERY hot and I had to learn to turn down the heat after preheating. I love that it uses the small propane tanks. Although I was originally wary of this design, in a high-rise I do not want to be carrying a heavy propane tank through the lobby and up the elevator to my unit. I get my tanks at The Home Depot in a three pack and they are incredibly reasonable in price.I read where some people have had problems with the igniter. I have had no such problems. When starting it up after a period of non-use, I may have to click the switch a second time to get it to light, but light it does. You do have to complete some maintenance to keep it operating like new, but I tend to clean things as necessary and mine operates perfectly. Once in a while, rotate the grate to release it, lift out the dome diffusers and vacuum. This keeps the air holes clear, prevents flame out and clears any build-up near the igniter. The articulating lid does hang up on occasion, but I have found that lifting up on the handle rather than pushing back makes opening easier.I am on my fifth year with the unit and upon this last vacuuming I did notice a crack in the interior liner. Although disappointed, what can I expect after five years and the fact that at the burner your getting near 1000 degrees? I went on line and found the replacement part for $45 bucks. I just ordered it and will install it as soon as it arrives. In the mean time it is still working perfectly. Remember; drop the temp after preheating and vacuum out the ash build-up occasionally. I love the look, small footprint and quality. PS: My Weber only lasted one year.[...]

Surprised at reviews
It is Fathers Day and I was just in looking for a new heat dome for my Del Mar. I'm surprised to see the negative comments on this BBQ. I think people need to remember the company that builds these primarily caters to the marine industry. They are heavy duty and work like a charm. The grills click into place to keep them intact if you bump the grille or hit a wave. I like that they are held into place. The heat dome is there for a reason. As stated in the instructions OFF if you want to use the BBQ as a stove, IN PLACE for a BBQ. Yes it does discolor and will deteriorate after a few years and again, that is detailed in the instructions. I've never seen a BBQ that stays shiny inside. If your igniter and burner will not stay in alignment, it is attached wrong. Tighten the burner another turn or two.For a few dollars every few years you have an incredible BBQ. The alternative is to buy a cheap POS and buy a new one every year. I love the durability and quality in my Del Mar.
